Saggy with Whatsapp

After charging the phone last night, immediately set it to airplane mode and went to sleep as I wanted to monitor how's the overnight battery life like. Ideally, it should be 0% as on iPhone but I always getting 2-3% with Note 3. It shows that how efficient iOS is. But Android has its advantages too.

Morning woke up and saw 96%, a 4% drop in just 7 hours. Aigoo... But noticed that there is a high usage by the 'media' category. Feeling a bit saggy, went to see how to factory reset. Some forumers recommend doing this after a major update (e.g. 4.3 to 4.4), not necessary for smaller updates (e.g. 4.2.1 to 4.2.2). After confirming that the factory reset would bring back the apps and leave contents on the microSD card alone, I went to do back up and transfer those personal stuff from phone's built-in memory to desktop. Then proceeded to do factory reset, hoping to solve the high media usage.

After the reset, the phone reinstalled the apps back, but without the previous settings. Had to do it manually all by myself! OMG~ Then went to restore Whatsapp back, it's the most used app now, so definitely the data is important.

Everything looked normal on Whatsapp, happy to see that the conversations were retained. However when I went into see the media files sent/received in the conversation windows, some of them were messed up. E.g. picture of HH appearing in other friend's conversation who has no idea who is HH! Aigoo!

I thought literally everything was intact after factory reset and I followed Whatsapp's instruction to restore the messages back. But WHY LIKE THIS?!

Went to uninstall, reinstall Whatsapp and restore the data back, still the same thing. :(

Sad and sag...

The feeling was quite sian actually. Suspected Windows might be the culprit. Because Note 3 is identified as a portable media device and not removable storage device just like thumbdrive. Felt that the transfer mechanism between the two differs and issues tend to arise when moving files between computer and such portable media devices. Windows cannot handle the large fan-out folder structure of Whatsapp. Last time when wanted to transfer some 3000 photos+videos from a single folder, problems arised causing the card to be unusable. Also damn sian also...

But the consolation was that the bug on the web browser got solved. Now I can move away with Samsung user manual bookmark and replace it with my bookmarks le. Yay!

So given the circumstances, decided to remove all media files and start recollecting it as of today. Some media files aren't worth anything of memory anyway, so okay to be removed.

Sian... Spent half the day doing this and yet 節外生枝. Told myself not to do factory reset again.
