16/8/2008 Jonathan's Farewell Dinner

By now, Jonathan should be in Holland enjoying le ba! Haha! He's there to start his university studies in aeronautical engineering. Sounded chim! 1 year later, I'm going to take his path, but it's electrical and electronic engineering (EEE in short). Don't eee ok? It's the course I chose.

Don't blame the organiser, he didn't invite me. It was me who volunteered to go. I'm the only one from my batch to attend this dinner.

I was super punctual that day. 5.45pm reached Somerset MRT station. But I saw no one. Maybe I was early? So I waited until...

Choo and Bay came! I then saw Ah San already standing there a few metres away from me waiting. Paiseh, didn't notice him. LOL~

But I want to 鸟 this organiser! He wanted to organise this, but he himself was late by 8 minutes. Shan't spell out the name. Those who attended will know who I'm talking about. LOL~

We went to 新旺香港茶餐厅 Cineleisure branch. Oh... I never knew Marina Square also had a branch as well. Well, I ordered baked rice + chicken chop ($9.90) and 奶茶 ($2.90). Prices exclude 17% tax. Food and drink were not bad. But I felt that the restaurant is a tad small to accomodate the crowds in Orchard, especially the round cubicled seats.

While having the meal, we chatted a lot of stuff. Mostly related to NS with the rest is related to what happened to them after they ORDed. Ah San and me updated them the recent events/incidents happened. Although everybody hated the topic, but it was nice to bring back the memories we had back in NS.

Wei Qi signed up for their membership. Gotten a bottle of red wine FOC. We opened it after the dinner. Wei Hao don't let me go home, insisting that I must drink some of the red wine before I could go. Okie lor, I drink a few mouthful at one go... LOL~

After that they went clubbing. I'm into those stuff so I home sweet home...

New Desktop

Just did a major works to my desktop:

1. Major clean up of files and icons.
2. Installed dock program.
3. Hid taskbar and icons of My Documents, My Computer, My Network Places etc.
4. Removed Recycle Bin icon through a special way I learned from forums. Note that this is different from My Documents, My Computer icons whereby they are easier to remove/hide.
5. Customized/arranged the icons on my dock.

Now the desktop looks really clean!

Edited: updates

After using the dock for about 45 mins. Was very unsatisfied with it, so I uninstalled. It's not the program itself, but my computer is too laoya. Very lag even I just open Firefox, MSN and media player. The above screenshot will be the history liao. LOL...

Only thing remains is the small little widget which displays the ORD countdown timer. LOL...

Choo YP

This is the sequel to my post dated 19 July 2008.

He's the same batch as Bay ZZ. But he graduated on 1 June. Bay is disrupted for his computer studies on 31 July, don't know when can graduate. Not interested to know also, because he will graduate later than me for sure. Haha!

Anyway, no matter what happens, Choo always leave earlier than Bay. Wahaha!

Why I link these 2 men who differ so much in physical appearance? Because they joined in at the same time and studied at the same school. Somemore they live very very near. Woodlands leh! But personalities are so different.

Ok, back to topic. Today I'm going to talk about this guy whom I knew back in April 2007. He used to take 'stone'. But ever since after some ki-siao 1s smelt his hands as some delicious drumsticks and just couldn't resist themselves, he took 'maximum craziness' liao. Not because of this incident though.

He complained to me. But I told him it's not my idea lor. I just follow the instructions for me. Until a few months before he graduated, he took back the stone again. He was so happy.

He is forever open-minded and can chat everything under the sun. That's why I like talking to him. Of course he would teach me some professional things so that I could improve myself while still studying now.

He likes watching TVB dramas! But of course selectively watch lar! If not, his whole life is just watch TVB dramas lol. Recently had a kopi session with him. As usual, even after he graduated and we went on different paths liao, we still can talk cock sing song non stop for 2 hours. Wahaha~ Sometimes you just need the right person with the right frequency lor.

Cyborg She 我的机械女友

It was decided at the very last minute. Watched Cyborg She, a Korea-Japan production. $7.50 at Plaza Singapura GV.

Oh yeah, saw Joseph and Josephine there in the 电影院 (don't know how to spell 'T-yet-ter') as well.

Had a 'Indoesian cuisine' fried chicken set at PS food court. $4.80. Consisted of a fried drumstick, a scoop of rice + optional curry gravy, 1/4 or 1/6 of pan egg, a small bowl of soup. Not bad, would recommend this to friends. Why I put inverted commas is because I saw two Chinese aunties preparing the food! What's the link?

Jia Yun had this grilled chicken set from the same stall for same price. Looked not bad too. Edwin had this dumpling noodles with a super big bowl of soup. $3.50. Well, it's worth it. The most bo hua is Wei Long's lunch liao. $5 leh!

The 导演 (English term is producer or author?) is from Korea. The actors and the settings are from Japan.

Some spoilers ahead!
Cyborg She came about because of this male lead. He (21 + 61 = 82 years old liao) doesn't want the gun incident to happen to him as of now, so he created this artificial girl who would travel back 61 years ago to change his 'fate'.

Some interesting things happened along the way. I always like to see the interesting part lor! Like what special powers she got. Sort of created some humour out of it and I laughed.

She's the superwoman! Everytime she saves a few lives out, including the male lead himself. This is nice despite is a bit no link la. Perhaps it's the old male lead (the 82 years old) who doesn't want unpleasant things to happen.

After that here comes the clubbing part. The male lead danced with a girl, while the female lead danced with another guy. Then male lead got jealous with her liao. Then in the end he beh tahan her, felt she's too much and even said he doesn't want to see her again.

At the end, there was a big earthquake. The female lead saved him again! But in the end she got crushed by the falling debris and 'died'.

Then when his young male lead got old, 61 years later, he recreated the same thing again. In year 2133, it happened that a girl, who resembled the cyborg she successfully bidded for the robot, had the chance to travel back to year 2008 twice!

The story ended with the normal girl fell in love with the male lead at the earthquake scene so much so that she planned to stay in year 2008 after the 2nd travel.

Opinions towards the movie:
1. The movie has some similarities with the movie 不能说的秘密. 1stly, both are romance movies. 2ndly, both use time travel as a tool to match the male and female together. 3rdly, the story ends with either one travel thru time to another time frame and stay put there.

2. The female lead sway sia... At the earthquake part, everytime kena falling stones and debris. This one no link... =.=

3. The parents gave birth to the girl who travelled must be grivened. Because the girl is gone forever...

4. Even more no link is the visit to hometown part. Is it 导演 wants us to remember our roots? Or to pursue our childhood memories? This part is more on the visual impact.

5. The songs are nice. Where to get them?

6. I hoped the 导演 did his maths correctly. It seemed to me that the maths and age don't tally...

SAFRA Singapore Bay Run + Army Half Marathon

These 2 days 都一直下长命雨。

Headed West Mall at 5pm. Was raining slightly bigger than drizzle.

The organiser - Samuel was late! 主办者自己竟然迟到……What the hell... Me, Yat Kan and Wai Lon arrived on time. Shi Hao, Jia Yun and Kenny were late. But Jia Yun only late marginally, so still can accept it.

Went to foodcourt. Had this 高记招牌面. Standard stuff. $3.80. Jia Yun spent $10 on his dinner alone. 药材鸡 + 四季豆. OMG! Then they went to buy subway buy some cookies and their buns. Personally I feel that food at shopping centres is expensive.

Then headed back to camp lor. It's until when they were just outside the camp, they got to know that those running 10KM actually no need to stay overnight! But nevertheless, they decided to carry on their plans.

Then went up the holy hill, saw Jansen, Yun Zhen, Joseph, Wei Long and Cheung Jie at the restroom. I'm not playing with them, so I went to use computer. Then I used for about 30mins (disturbed Bay, surfed forums and youtube) then Kenny said he wanted to use liao. Then ok lor, I went up to sleep.

Woke up by Shi Hao around 3.45am... He violent sia... Must pull my legs to wake me up. I know I sleep like a pig, but don't do this la. Sien. Saw vice principal too.

Reached Padang super early before 5.30am I think. Then it was drizzling before the run but stopped just as the run started.

Sunshine boy no logic one... Asked me whether I can drive manual car. I then answered "ya". Then he asked "can drive me back to camp to take the number tag?". I began to feel the no-linkness liao. I replied back "you also got class 3 licence what, somemore you passed the TP test earlier than me! Somemore, that car I don't want to drive". Then he gave the "oh ya hor" expression, but he still insist I got the driving experience yet he don't have. But I still reject him, he LLST haha. In the end Burger send him back.

Vice principal, Wei Long and me got lost contact with the rest. We wanted to find them, but it was like 海底捞针！ 75,000 people went for the run leh! The beep of the "ERP system" sounded fantastic. I hoped the thing broke down. Haha

长跑事迹

At 1st, vice principal, Wei Long and me agreed to run together 的. But somehow 不到5分钟, vice principal picked up his pace and he was nowhere to be seen. Me and Wei Long kept our pace together.

Then here came the first water point. I stopped for a sip of drink. Wei Long didn't slowed down, he continued his constant pace till upslope (Benjamin Sheares Bridge). Then I caught up with him a while before the slope. After that, I walked for the section of upslope, he continued his pace, but slower.

Then I saw Jansen and Yun Zhen jogging very slowly upslope in front of me. I walked faster than they jogged?! How slow they ran lar! Then I saw Yun Zhen kept exposing his nice underwear. He pulled up his shorts every now and then. But it dropped down again, never disappoint Yun Zhen, exposing the underwear. LOL... 笑死人……

He claimed he slimmed down and hence the shorts was loose. I then paced with them till before fort road. Yun Zhen kept running faster and faster while I paced with Jansen.

Then at the 2nd water point, I stopped for water. Jansen continued running. Never mind, I took the express lane down the exit filter lane to fort road. Managed to catch up with Yun Zhen, but I can't see Jansen liao. Never mind, ran with Yun Zhen.

Then at the start of the ECP section, I saw Jansen and we three ran together again. At the 3rd water point, Yun Zhen and I stopped for water. After the stoppage, I lost contact with the two of them liao. Never mind, I continued the run with my own pace.

Then I saw Shi Hao and Joseph. I ran along with them lor. Wanted to find toilet but that uncle said 两毛钱. We ji tao 显掉... Never mind, we continued the run, taking shortcuts wherever possible. LOL! Then SK overtook us. I asked him how come he lagged so much behind. He said he came here late. Haha... Then those ang-moh very hiong, came there to support the whole lot of runners... Wa... 他们yeng下……

Then I picked up the pace liao, pang seh both of them. Then here came the rocky hill part. The bitumen was not paved properly, it was soft and rough surfaced. Then the road was muddy as well. Difficult to run.

I only managed to go to toilet at Marina Barrage (don't ask me to pronounce this word). The toilet was ok, but the people made it sucked big time. Only 4 urinals and 3 cubicles were available and I don't like automatic taps!! They also suck big time!

Immediately after the toilet break, I cannot run anymore liao. 有心无力. Hence I ran a bit, walked 3 bits till the next water point where I picked up drinks and a banana. Then I tried to run again, but got feeling of puking. So I walked again to digest the banana a bit before I ran. The 2nd and 3rd last KM were nightmares for me.

I struggled with myself until I see 20KM and MP water point! Ahhh~ Isotonic drinks were great! After 2 cups of 100+ I then chionged all the way to the finish line liao.

Then I saw the timer 2:49:XX... Huh?! I guessed I managed to finish the run before 2hr 45mins. Must get the medal and the cert leh! Otherwise, quite wasted. Thruout the whole run, I didn't see any timer display except for the finish line one leh despite they said got.

Then I went back to my rest point. Was dismissed shortly after that.

Then me and Jansen saw Shi Hao, Joseph and Yun Zhen running towards the finish line. He ran the last stretch with them, pang seh me lor! Never mind, this is what I called friendship...

Went for brunch with vice principal, sunshine boy, tyrannosaurus rex, Wei Long, Joseph. Shi Hao, Yun Zhen and Jansen went off while the rest went for their own makan outing.

I told tyrannosaurus rex about the "weather forecast" thingy. He now then realised that AHM section has to do OD tomorrow! What the hell! Too late to change now lor! Now I hope got 1 day off I can 偷笑 liao.

Then vice principal 感叹 super super super tired + sleepy. He drove me to my house downstairs there, I saved on transport fare and the trouble of standing. Thanks for giving the lift!

Conclusion + some trivials after the run:
1. How come they choose the rocky hill road?! This is not X-country lor! The field at Padang was practially mud field... They were surprised to see how clean my shoes were. But I found my shoes dirty lor, ready to throw them away.

2. This is not good, polluting the Earth. Look at the garbage generated. At least throw somewhere near the trash bag la, easier to clear up... Some people can throw their paper cups some distance away. 缺德下……

3. The toilets! OMG, I really pity the toilet cleaners. The mud is still ok, just put more water to wash them away. But look at the toilets at esplanade! Urine + water flowing out of urinals! How would the tourists respond when they visit this 新加坡代表性地标？

4. Didn't manage to take the goodie bag (was there 1 in the 1st place?). Anyway, I also didn't bother to take 1. Also didn't take 100+ can. What for?! 几毛钱的东西，虽然是免费，但我不会因为是免费的东西而跟大家你推我挤。想一下，又要人挤人，又要鞋子踩泥土。Home sweet home was top priority.

5. Saw Calvin, Hing Hiang, Chee Hoe and maybe some other people I know, just that I couldn't remember their names.

6. I visited almost all water points, except the one at rocky road. 捧场下……

7. The whole run, especially the first half... OMG! Was suffocating! So much people yet oxygen is limited...

8. And those who pee at the bushes... For god sake, don't do this in public places la...

一天跑两场，累到像狗下

Happy birthday to Timothy whose birthday is on 22 Aug.

Had a fulfilling lunch at New York New York Citylink Mall outlet. Each person had a stick of candy floss to eat (开胃菜？Don't know how to spell the english term for this... paiseh). Ordered this pasta with roasted half chicken (don't know how to spell the name out, it's long!). $15.90. The pasta looked like mee pok and the gravy was very creamy. Chicken was nice.

Timothy ordered Yankee burger! Shared with Edmund and Kenny. It was super jumbo big. The burger was designed to shared by 4, but it was shared by 3 la... Me and Cheung Jie helped to finish the fries. Timo mentioned the plate was so big it looked like UFO. lol

The staff there made a very simple birthday bash for Timo (22 Aug) and Edmund (18 Aug). The two still want to get away from it by going to the toilet. Wahaha... The present was candy floss made into a rabbit shape. Kenny laughed at the funny shape like crazy. Siao

After that Kenny and Nicky went off first, with rashes and meeting up with a female friend as excuses respectively. We continued to wander around marina square. Initially wanted to have a movie, but me and Cheung Jie objected the idea. Also not much movie to watch lor.

In the end had pool game. $12 for 1 hour. Ex. Should have went Temasek Club. Edmund was pro and I tyco! Haha...

Then kopi session with Choo at upper thomson road there. Had a good chat for 2 hours. Jansen and Bay don't want to go. In the end I had to be the driver. At least Jansen had some valid reasons, ok forgive him. Bay是能推就推，又不讲原因。给他气死掉。Somemore he lives so near to Choo and tumpang him back what... Such a good offer also don't want. 走宝咯！以后你要都不能呼风唤雨啦。

Olympics update
Again, it was table tennis day yesterday. Li Jia Wei lost to Guo Yue, said sayonara to the bronze medal liao. But 4-2 was a good match lo. At least it's not 4-0 nia.

Next it was the gold medal match between Zhang Yining and Wang Nan. Nice game la! Zhang Yining won the game. It's interesting to see all 3 China flags being raised for the medal receiving ceremony. LOL... China is just too pro in table tennis lor.

After that was the women 4 X 100m relay final match. Pity that Jamaica's team accidentally dropped the baton... Cannot continue the match liao. Sad, gold medal leh!

Back track a bit... Wang Yue Gu (ranked 7) actually lost to a player ranked 50?! Wa... Until now I still can't believe that she lost and I just couldn't explain why she was ranked 7 in the first place. I think she kept throwing the ball out of the table without hitting the table on the other side. The mistake she repeated it numourous times during team matches.

Recently, Jade Seah was spotted saying the F-word during the news presentation of the Beijing Olympics. Google it and you find the evidence in the form of video, the F-word was heard somewhere around 51st - 52nd second.

Recently have been feeling tired. Even after finish doing the slackest job available, I still need to take a nap. Then woke up with a headache =.=

Surprised to see Anthony yesterday. Never expect he would come back. Wow, so free liao lor.

Just downloaded the opening ceremony for keeping purpose, because it's just too good show. I think it's the best Olympics opening ceremony ever lor. HD version, 4.91GB. My com lags when playing the clip. =.=

Saturday need to book in leh. Sian to 100%. Then after the AHM run on Sunday, next day exploration to oil factory. Waaaa... Given the situation there is not very good, someone save me please!

Table tennis day

Yesterday went for Jonathan's farewell dinner. Well, wait till I receive the photos then I'll do a write up.

Olympics Updates
As soon as I came back from the dinner immediately they started the Men's 100m Final match.

Jamaica's Bolt Usain was super fast, he broke the world record with timing of 9.69s, the previous record was 9.72s.

If you've noticed, during the middle of the race, he had almost a 2-person gap between him and the next fastest runner. He did slow down before crossing the finish line. What for?

But it's a good tactic la! Now he just want to break record by 0.03s, so that in future races, he could slowly break this records with ease.

What's interesting is out of the 8 runners of this final match, 3 of them came from Jamaica. So I could say Jamaica is runner producer lor! Bolt is tall, hence the long legs. The only con I could see is that his oxygen intaking ability is not as good. His muscle cells might need x amount of oxygen to do work, but his lungs could only take in y amount of oxygen (where y < x).

One more interesting observation I've noted is African countries would more likely to dominate the medal positions in these athletics' contests. Reason why? Because the training for this types of events is rather simple and cheap - you just need a pair of shoes and volia! You can start running liao.

Swimming you'll need a pool; badminton you'll need a court, a racket and shuttlecocks. Cycling you'll need a bicycle. All these infrastructures and equipments mean money. African countries can't possibly maintain that or even afford that.

My uncle did a simple calculation for the speed those people who go for these ultra-explosive but short distance events and those who go for long distance ones. He found out that the speed of those marathon runners is just half of those 100m or 200m ones.

For short distance: 100m takes 9.69s.
For long distance: 100m takes 17s.
For my first ever 16km run: 100m takes 36s.

See the difference?

Swimming
Michael Phelps is just too god liao. He's the godlike figure in Olympics history liao. To him, sweeping 8 medals is like breathing oxygen for us.

Table Tennis
Today is just the day of table tennis lar! Whole day just telecast table tennis matches.

Team bronze match - Korea beat Japan 3 - 0. Japanese lack experiences. Most mistakes are committed when the ball can't go over the net. All players look young nia. One of them is a mixed blood, looks cute though. rfrf

Team gold match - China thrashed Singapore 3 - 0! As expected. But the first 2 games, i.e. individual games, China 放水 let Singapore win the first round. 之后就出一点pattern来吓你们，然后就通杀到片甲不留。新加坡队的都不够中国队打，酱打过？ Then the last round, the double match... 中国更毫不留情，杀到很痛快。 快、狠、准…… Nice game from the Chinese.

But then again, if Singapore happens to get gold. Would we get one day off tomorrow? rfrf Like national day off like that lor... LOL~

Marathon
A bit disappointed on the Chinese runner. Could have gotten silver and bronze 1. But never mind, I didn't expect this to be China's strength in the Olympics.

Badminton
Sama-sama la... Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei tio thrashed by Lin Dan. But on the consolation side, Lee Chong Wei got a silver medal. Not too bad liao la.

Have been puzzled how the table tennis team competition is carried out. I went over to the official websai of Beijing Olympics and this is what I found out.

"The teams competition will be held in 2 stages. The first stage is group round robin; the second stage is knock-out.

In the first stage, the 16 participating teams will be divided into 4 groups of 4 teams (Groups A-D). The 4 highest ranked teams will go to Group A to D respectively. The remaining teams will be drawn in ranking order, 2 at a time into Groups A, B, C and D. The group round robin system will be used to decide the places in each group.

In the second stage, the winning teams of each group shall play-off, in a knockout semi-final format for the Gold and Silver Medals. The second placed teams of each group and the semi-final contest losers shall play-off for the Bronze medal.

A team match at the Olympic competition is called a "contest". Each contest consists of 4 Singles matches and 1 Doubles match. All Singles matches and Doubles match in a contest are the best of 5, with no other differences from Men's and Women's Singles Event."

What's group round robin system?! I can't figure out what is it lor...

Then I went over to the Chinese version of the explanation, only then I can fully understand the game format of the team matches:

"团体赛——第一阶段，将男女各16支队伍分为4个小组进行单循环赛。第二阶段，获小组第一名的队通过半决赛和决赛，产生团体赛的金牌和银牌。获小组第二名的队只能争夺铜牌。通过小组第二名之间的对抗，获胜的两个队和半决赛失利的两个队进行铜牌的半决赛和决赛，产生团体赛的铜牌。"

It's so much shorter and simpler in Chinese lor. No technical term. I can comprehend and digest very easily. Went back to the English version but still can't make a picture out of it. Proud to be a Chinese lol...

Recently received a letter from CMPB, inviting me and my parents for tea session about the Accelerated Citizenship Scheme (ACS).

Up till now, I still don't know whether to take up the citizenship or not. I mean what's the WOW factor for me to born here, live here and die here?

PR also not bad what, later 如果一边很惨，可以跑回去. Somemore I have been PR for 20 years, kena don't enjoy those benefits for 20 years liao. Used to it liao. LOL~ Sometimes, people just have to be independent.

And where's my new SAFRA card? I'm the only one still haven't receive the new card leh. =.= But I also can't be bothered about it, cincai la.

This week was smooth and sailing for me. Let me explain why.

Managed to escape from super super SK. Pity them. The most sien thing they repeated thrice in just that morning. Shan't say what was it. I was involved in some other work.

Afternoon I conducted lesson on the newcomers. A first in Kindergarten. I don't want to de lor. But Wei Hao, LKC and CTK kept pushing me to do it. I don't want to be 坏人 lalalala...

Had a chat with Shi Hao. But as I went on and on... He almost fell asleep. LOL...

Wei Hao kept suan-ing my English, saying my English is comparable to MaGnesium. I can't pronounce 'gymnasiast' and 'spannar'. Sian to 100%.

Again, I managed to escape! I no need to run. After the event, heard from those who went for the run, they re-affirmed my stand. Wahaha...

Again, Mac Mac with Shi Hao and Yun Zhen. Last minute they said they don't want to go because of some reasons.

Went to fetch Choo and Bay. Bay now realised how unpopular he was back in Kindergarten. Then went to fetch dominic. Everybody now needs my car. Sien...

Olympics updates

Sad, didn't manage to catch the re-telecast of opening ceremony (part 2). I want to see the very last part when 李宁 went to 点燃火炬.

乒乓：恭喜新加坡晋升总决赛，这次对垒中国队欲夺金牌。一路走来不容易。但有没有想过，其实这场比赛是中国对中国咧？

羽球：男双韩国对丹麦，这场比赛不错看。好过大马对新加坡的那场初赛整条街。韩国队员眼明手快，反应敏捷。丹麦的不懂做莫有一点迟钝酱，接不到球，发现时球都已落到地上。女单总决赛是中国对中国，不用看料啦……还有恭喜大马李宗伟晋升总决赛。

游泳：那个Phelps恐怖56789下。已经拿下7面金牌料，离他的8面金的目标不远。中国那个14岁水手也很夸张下，年纪小小不过表现异好。以后前途无量。

Up till now I've watched diving, badminton, basketball and a bit on soccer. Look forward to table tennis matches.

跳水：中国实在太够力料，时间拿捏好，水花少。每次看他们跳，我会high……郭晶晶在网上被讨论很多下……

羽球：新加坡对垒马来西亚。32强。实在不能看。而且有一粒球落在网上，顿时间停留在那边，过后往新方落下去。给大马赚一分啦！Susilo越打越dulan。13 VS 21, 14 VS 21。

篮球：中国对垒美国。中国的3分球好像不用钱酱，之后的3分球有心无力，各个都失败。美国就很厉害，无论是传球还是进攻都是神速 =.=。灌篮轻而易举。全部NBA明星对一个姚明……不是说其他中国队员不好，只是不识他们。101 VS 70算不错鸟。

足球：意大利对垒韩国。韩国，你怎么啦？3 VS 0。失望下。

游泳：虽然没有看比赛，不过新闻打到很大。Phelps神经下，又好像超人下，参加什么项目都给他打破纪录。好恐怖

Happy birthday to Edwin! 8/8/2008

Yesterday went for my 2nd 16KM run. Yeah, again...
I ran much more slower than the 1st attempt, because there was no medal given out when you completed your run in under 2 hours. LOL~

Ran with Jansen, slow pace but jogged leisurely. Even Leonard and Weilong were in front.

Shortly after Jansen and me made (Oops, I mis-typed into maked) a U-turn, Joseph and Yun Zhen caught up. Then we 6 people jogged back to the starting point.

About half way back, Leonard mischeivously played prank on me in front of a group of sec sch girls by shouting 'good morning sir!' The girls looked at me. I kena stunned. Joseph, Yun Zhen and Leonard laughed... =.= Then he and Yun Zhen bullied those primary sch kids by racing with them. When the kids realised that they can't keep up with their da-kor-kor counterparts, Leonard and Yun Zhen said back 'you can't beat me~~'... I Lol-ed...

That's the end of the run. Also saw 40SAR running and GUARDS doing marching there.

Then had Katong Laksa at East Coast Road there. Seriously I feel that the laksa is very normal and overpriced. $3.50 for like half a bowl. WTF?!! The cup of drinks, priced $1.30, was made up mostly ice. What the hell la~ Definitely can find something that's more delicious and fulfilling than this lor.

Heng ah I didn't drive that day... Was hoping that I could borrow the Honda. But after the whole series of events, I was glad I no need to drive. Hohoho, imagine 4 cars just ferry 9 people. Very unefficient and polluting the environment by releasing more CO2 and NOx into the atmosphere. *Yeah, stop making excuses for youself. But I'm serious lor!

Watched the 2008 Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony live telecast @ Channel 5 at night. They had chose the most auspicious time ever. 08年8月8日8点08分... Written it as 08/08/08 8.08pm... And somemore yesterday was 初八 (8th day) of the lunar calendar!!! 真巧！

The feeling was great. The performance managed to bring out the ancient and the modern China. 五千年历史的中国就在此刻展现出来. 四大发明, i.e. 造纸、印刷、指南针 and 火药 were shown to the world. Even 太极 was included in the show. A pity that 杂技 was not included. I liked 杂技 lor. The visual effects, i.e. the globe, bird nest lighting and the 画卷 were just too 精彩了.

All thanks to Zhang Yimou, who was in charge of the opening ceremony performance. No wonder some put this as the most spectacular Olympics opening ceremony ever.

Followed the performance was the parade of each country's athletes. China and USA had the greatest number of athletes competing in this game, with 639 and 595 respectively. 是在场的‘拉拉队’起初超high的，又摇又跳，yeng下……后来就好像跳到很累了，就没什么跳。嘿嘿，只是蓄势待发罢料 rfrf 直到东道主的队伍入场，她们又high去！

最好笑的是有些国家的一些选手真够胆！敢敢在星光大道游走时，明目张胆猛拍那些拉拉队的mm！喂，全世界都在看你啦！够力到~

The ROC National Defense Minister Chen Chao-min announced at the end of last month that Taiwan would move toward establishing an all-volunteer military by 2013. This signals the end of the island's decades-old tradition of conscription.

A revamp of the military was part of President Ma Ying-jeou's election campaign platform, which advocated the creation of a smaller, better-trained and better-equipped professional fighting force. Despite the change being expected to cost the taxpayer more, as a result of offering better pay and benefits to attract qualified recruits, the public's response toward the plan has largely been positive.

By doing away with conscription, Taiwan's military will be on a par with other fully-industrialized nations such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan, which have adopted all-volunteer militaries as a means to further improve their national forces' combat readiness and efficiency in the post-Cold War era.

The demise of conventional warfare, and the use of new technology to increase combat effectiveness, has eliminated the need for nations to maintain large-scale standing militaries. But as the United States discovered when it ended conscription in 1973, the benefits of shifting to an all-volunteer force do not materialize immediately, and the period of transition can be more costly and difficult than anticipated.

In Taiwan there was debate over whether to switch from compulsory service to an all-volunteer military. However, in 2005 the Cabinet passed a directive aimed at transforming the military into a professional, knowledge-based and technology-driven force. To this end, the ROC would employ a mixture of conscription and enlistment, with an emphasis on the latter. From 2008, the military had more recruits than conscripts (now at a 60-40 ratio).

Meanwhile, the armed forces have also sought to reduce the conscription term from 16 months to 12 months and have introduced substitute service, allowing conscripts to apply for non-military duties. Critics have argued that these alternative arrangements may help relieve short-term manpower shortages in public and private sectors, but in fact, military resources will continue to be strained as considerable time and money must still be dedicated to training the conscripts.

While establishing an all-volunteer military in the short term may require increased spending, in the long term, the additional expense would be offset by a reduced turnover of military personnel and the freeing up of would-be conscripts, who otherwise would be lost to the workforce after graduating from high school or university. By ending conscription, Taiwan will not only be more productive, but will be better protected by a fully professional, all-volunteer military.

X与Y合并

如有雷同，纯属巧合。

X公司在数个月前宣布在年杪与Y公司合并，并且进行大改革然后组成一个新公司，名为Z公司。

近日，有消息进一步肯定上述新闻。

合并的主要原因是让两家公司更能专注主导保安工作，减少竞争所带来的负面影响。

合并后的两家公司将进行大改革，整合各个部门，并且不排除裁员的可能性。据悉，两家公司打算把整数410员工缩成300名员工，减幅大约27%。另外，经理级员工也将会从70人锐减至30人，减幅更达57%。

X公司发言人表示改革后保安人员的工作时间将维持不变，不过工作时间将会横盖三四天，但休息日子将减少。这意味着，新改革将能消减保安人员在工作时所遇到的压力与疲倦。

现所实行的工作制已经引发诸多员工的不满，他们大多投诉工作时间太长，导致一些员工的身体承受不了负荷而开始肢体痛发。有些严重到无法工作。

话说有天我买了纸娃娃回去给我四岁的小侄女玩,七岁的侄儿看了蠢蠢欲动,可是他的妈妈却说那是女生的玩意儿,禁止他参与……

我听了又好气又好笑……


话说才出国念书的室友刚开始学煮饭，水分常掌握得不好。
某天晚餐的时候,只听见坐在他身边的美女很大声的喊道： “阿龙，你炒粥啊?”

某天一车子(Iswara)女生一起去KL，在路上一辆Wira一直紧跟在后，才发现是一车的男生。

一路上两辆车子就是你超越我然后我再超越你的。Wira超车后,车上的男生还一直转过头来和后面的女生挥手致意，弄得整车的女生很不自在。好不容易在半路那辆Wira就到目的地,Iswara也继续上路。

怎么知道不到半个小时的时间,就看到那辆Wira又追上来了，车上的女生都惊吓得大叫起来。只见司机不慌不忙的说：“不要担心，车子被追到料不要紧，只要我们的人没有被追到就好料。”


接近午餐时间最常听到的一下对话：

“嘿，今天午餐要怎样？”
“打包咯！”
“吓？你们很残忍leh，包都没有做错事情，做莫你们要打他？”

在公司打电话的时候，以下的对白常常会出现……

我：Hello, xx please.
接电话的：xx is not around.
我：Oh...... xx is not around ah? Then is he a square?

还有一个engineer蛮搞笑的，常常我们打电话给他的时候都会遇到以下情况……

中国朋友到马来西亚旅行记

一群中国朋友到马来西亚旅行，由于肚子饿了就到大排档找点吃的．
刚好另一群马来西亚的朋友也到了这家大排档来．
两组人就双双坐在隔壁座．

不一会，所有的马来西亚人就点了食物回到座位．

Have been asking Choo about his new hp maybe since the Temasek Club birthday treat. His dream phone is a flip phone.

Then today I asked him again. Then introduced him some models quite good one. Maybe I'm a fan of Sony Ericsson, all models are Sony Ericsson ones. One of them was Sony Ericsson W980i.

Within a few hours, he flew down to Causeway point and got away with the phone for an attractive price. Didn't expect him to get the phone so fast! Good for him nia, he happy I also happy.

Next year will be my turn!

Back track a bit to what happened 1~2 weeks prior to this outing.

Starting...
Choo was the one who initiated this outing. Then he asked me whether I want. Of course I agree with him la! Then I asked him to ask Bay. Ok, Bay said he want to watch. Then I asked Bay to jio more more people lor, since he on leave/off for so long liao, sitting there shaking legs is not the solution to pass the day. Ok, he said he managed to jio A-go-go and 1 神秘嘉宾. That's good news.

The day before...
As 1 August was getting nearer and nearer, I began to ask Choo and Bay about how's the preparation going on. Choo, Bay and Edwin added me to the MSN conversation and we were like 热锅上的蚂蚁, "10 marks gan cheong". Each of us searching the cinemas' websites up and down to get the available seating plans and timing. In the end we agreed on The Grand Cathay 19:15 HRS de slot.

We began to call/sms those we wanted them to go. Thanks to Jansen for his booking of tickets. And that A-go-go, spending a few more bucks wouldn't kill you la, treat it as the expenses to get to see K9 juniors lor! What the hell, when it's the 关键时刻, Bay's phone rosak... =.=

On that day...
Went to collect "food".
Saw Hing Hiang. He was there rehearsing for the upcoming big event.
It has been more than a year since I last saw him.
Time really flies.

Then saw Zi Long as well. What the hell la~
This world is soooo small that I can bump into 2 persons at the same place. =.=

Took half day and I went down to Douby Ghaut MRT's X zone to up level my driving skills at Initial D4. It's more difficult than playing that on PSP. LOL~ Anyway, the money was well spent, at least it didn't go down to waste la!

The other party was at Mind's Cafe playing games. Consisted of Edmund, Kenny, Samuel, Wei Long and Geraint. Think they had a good time together ba...

Surprised to see Zhang Zhang there, but he's not there to join us for the movie later.

Then went to eat 99c sushi as dinner at basement level of The Cathay House. Choo and Bay don't want Japanese food. Ok, it's their mouths and stomachs and they could choose what to eat. We can't stop them. Surprised to see James there... I saw him, yet he can't see me... What's this supposed to mean? I changed a lot and he didn't change? LOL~

Ate 7 plates of sushi. Jia Yun was the 大胃王, ate 10 plates. Wow~ No wonder he's bigger sized than me lor.

Eventually, what Bay described as 神秘嘉宾 didn't appear. Could it been himself? Or Jansen? I jio Jansen de lor... What did you do for the jio-ing people campaign? You very 烂啦 =.= 给你炸到惨惨，一场欢喜一场空.

Then for the seating, they also very 麻烦... Edwin suggested to let the xin jiaos have their own row, then the lao jiaos take up the remaining 2 rows. And I don't want to sit with Bay (because he will disturb me with his more-and-more-no-link ideas) and likewise Bay don't want to sit with me (scared I say 那些不应该讲的东西). In the end, me, Choo, Jansen and Bay made up 1 row.



Nowadays a lot of westerners began to notice the Chinese culture. Even the movies also. The movie itself was better than 功夫之王 IMO. Both lookalike. At least I saw a very little bit of link. Again, it's the 鬼佬 idea to mix up the Chinese ancient history with some very modern western ideas. What Mummy and 秦始皇?!

This time round, I get to hear people speaking more mandarin. The "FK" had almost 99% speaking English, including those Chinese ancient characters. Very awkward.

About the Chinese actors in the movie, it's the most disappointing thing ever. The kelefei, 琳, can support the movie even longer than those 资深演员 like 李连杰 and 杨紫琼. 严重炸到~~ =.= The rest were made up by Caucasian actors and they made it to the end.

I think this movie focus more on the action rather than the story. They made use of 秦始皇 as the base of the plot and developed from there. Not too bad la... 秦兵阵 was very magnificent, but too bad it's a mock up by computers. Nice fireworks too.

Actually, it's good to see that even though the K-nine-lers were very stressed out, but every now and then an outing was organised and we get to relieve our stress and enjoy the time together. I hope this can sustain even when I return to normal life again and even further down the road. Best if it's forever. Hoho~ Can't imagine how it's like when we meet up again (maybe 5-10 years later) and we laughed at each other for almost anything.

在食堂吃饭时，发现碗中有条虫，大呼小叫的是大一；
在食堂吃饭时，发现碗中有条虫，拿起饭碗去找食堂负责人的是大二；
在食堂吃饭时，发现碗中有条虫，把虫夹出来，继续吃饭的是大三；

“你怎么迟到了？”这是大一。
“你今天怎么没去上课？”这是大二。
“你去上课吗？”这是大三。
“你怎么上课去了？”这是大四。

大一：“什么！下礼拜要考微积分？”
大二：“什么！明天要考微积分？”
大三：“什么！等一下要考微积分？”
大四：“什么！刚刚考的是微积分？”
