Genting Trip during the long weekend

Finally a break for me!

14th April was Good Friday, a public holiday in Singapore. So I seized this opportunnity to have a break midst preparing for my A level exam. Furthermore, I did not travel to Malaysia during the March holidays.

14 APRIL

It rained on Good Friday. But lucky all of us were on the car, so we did not have to drench ourselves even before we set off.

It was not a very good day though, even it's so-called the good day for Christians. There were traffic jams everywhere, before Singapore customs, before Malaysia customs, on all main roads in Malaysia. Guess lots of people were getting out of Singapore for a short holidays.

And that time was the dismissal time for Malaysian schools, this added more cars on the road. It did not look nice though.

Had lunch at Senai, a small town in Johor (about 25km from Johor Bahru). It was char kway teow. Though nice, but I found it a bit too salty. I got thristy not long after the lunch. =.=

Next was a few hours on the highway, nothing to look at though. As I felt tired, I went for a very short nap. As we were near to the destination, I felt excited and couldn't sleep thereafter. haha

Short chit-chats between parents and relatives were unevitable. I sat there stayed quiet, as I felt a bit tired lar. Then we had early dinner at a nearby mamak stall=.=

I ordered hor fun. The plate had a generous filling of hor fun for the price of RM3.50 (approx. S$1.60). Surprisingly, I did not finish it. I was not hungry at that time! What's more? I had my lunch at 2. Then we set off to Genting Highlands after dinner.

It was raining whole day long in Malaysia and the weather did not showed any indication that the rain was to stop immediately. The driving condition on highway was rather hazardous as you could not see far in front of you and the lane marking blurred by the rain.

After Sungei Besi Toll Booth (south of Kuala Lumpur), our car was tightly packed among other hundreds, if not thousands of cars which were heading to Kuala Lumpur city. It was an unusual sight as normally this road is jam-free.

Never mind, I thought, after making a turn into another road (MRR2), we might avoid the horrific traffic jam. But to my dismay, we just meet another traffic jam! Sian to the max now...

It was not declared as public holiday on 14 April and yet there were traffic jams everywhere in Kuala Lumpur! Maybe the office workers were heading home from the stressful work for the day? Or people just come out out of nowhere?

The speed of traffic was slow, far slower than the speed limit of 80km/h. I don't think anybody sped though.

Here's one thing I want to comment: two mighty trucks carrying cars
They were the slowest lot and yet they took up the right most lane... What nonsense?! In front of them was nothing but clear of traffic! We could have been faster if not for these 2 trucks
What made me feel very ridiculous is they kept changing lanes from left to right and from right to left. The traffic was slow, you cannot escape from it anyway, just stay in the lane.

Forget about that. We turned into Karak Highway. One thing about this highway is that it cuts through numerous mountains at the start near Kuala Lumpur and gradually flatten itself as it nears Karak. I really liked the reflectors on the road though. They were so bright upon shining of the headlamps of the cars and felt as if we were on the airport runway! :p

Landslide occured near the bypass at Genting Highlands which leads cars down the mountain. We did not know this. So we were puzzled why the one way road became double way road.

The weather up there was cold. About 15C outdoor I would say, and about 17/18C indoor. I had my jackets on. hehe The hotel room we got was ok, at least better than prevoius trip here.

15 APRIL

Woke up at about 8.45 in the morning. As usual , the weather was cold but it did not rain. I had a nice sleep throughout the night. We thought the cup noodles manufacturer was kind enough to include forks but to our disappointment we did not find any. As a result, we could not eat noodles!

Then we headed to a restaurant which served Chinese cuisine, i.e. dim sum. The dim sum they served tasted good, I would say and the price was ok for the service quality we got.

Then the whole afternoon I was at the arcades getting tickets for redemptions of gifts.

We descended from Genting at the evening and the moment we hitted the sea level, it rained again. The city of Kuala Lumpur was in the wet throughout the day.

16 APRIL

Set off at 11 AM, arrived in Singapore at 4 PM

Cut crap short, here are the pictures!

过了吉隆坡以南的Sungai Besi收费站,马上就遇到塞车,还是几公里长!

这就是吉隆坡通讯塔跟国油双峰塔,不好意思拍到蒙蒙了:p

Living with braces

Monday 3 April was the first day when i put on the braces.

it was not painful initially. after that, you feel slight pain that feels like pressure, regardless whether you go and disturb the tooth.

then it was not painful unless you disturb the tooth, such as biting, eating etc.

for the past few days, i have been eating breads and porridge. i guess i could eat normal food from next week ba~~

SOME COMMENTS ON THE WHOLE PROCEDURE

a lot of us thought that wearing braces is a torture for us. it is a pain. however no pain no gain. we just have to live with it ba~

in reality, it is not as much pain as we spectulated initially. all spectulations are false. yes, there is still pain, but most of the time it has been minimised so that life would not be miserable.

1. to put on braces, you'll have to consult an experienced dentist who knows about wear braces thingy as he/she can consult you whether you could wear braces or not and the price.

2. then the dentist will require you to do a model of your tooth region, so that he/she could examine and analyse the conditions and whether they fulfill the requirements prior to wearing braces.

3. ok, so the model has been done and the dentist has analysed the situation. what's next? he/she could require you to have some tooth extracted. this is done so as to create space for the movement of the remaining tooth. some have 1 tooth extracted, but usually for majority, 4 tooth have to be extracted. for me, i had 5 tooth extracted. so this extraction of tooth depends on every individual.

4. the process of extraction of tooth is not pain at all. the dentist will put some 麻醉药 to numb the gum region where the teeth would be extracted. next, the dentist use a pair of calipers to pluck out the teeth. the painful part is when the 麻醉效应 slowly and gradually fate off, you start to feel a little pain here as you bite the 纱布. the 纱布 is used to stop the blood oozing too much. you'll have to consume antibiotics after the extraction of tooth to prevent infections.

5. after a few days when the situation gets better, you'll then visit the dentist. he/she will now clean the mouth before he/she implants the braces on your tooth. this process, again, is not painful at all! he/she uses a special kind of light to fix it on. so you'll not feel any pain.

6. the only pain comes when the tooth cannot withstand the force of the metal bar. the metal bar is used to align the crooked tooth. the tooth start to feel stress under the metal bar and this is where the pain comes from. as time goes by, you'll have to visit the dentist every month to have the braces adjusted. the dentist will also change the metal bar to a thicker one, so as to further align the tooth by force.

7. normally people have to wear braces for about 2 years. however, if things speed up fast enough, the time taken could be shorten. as for the price, it ranges from 2k++ to 3k++.

KBOX outing thingy

yay... another kbox outing! last sat went to sing karaoke with my friends!

now then i know that it has been a long time since my last visit there! oops, a lot of things i have forgotten... like operating the remote control =.=

we picked a lot of songs, but i think a lot of them are S.H.E's ...

nice songs though... but my voice cmi, too long did not sing liao... i think my voice has "rusted"

one thing which has disappointed me is the "new time slot" (not mentioned in offical kbox website)... whereby K-happy session is from 2 to 5 pm... yet they charge us 2 - 7pm rates... rather a bit unhappy though. should have gone to clementi.

废话少说!照片时间到!

全景模式下拍的!很特别哦!
