Small gathering

Blog about this gathering on last Friday.

Only me, Geraint, Weilong and Edmund attended.

Basically, it's a dinner event. Met them at Central mall there then sat inside this resaurant called Curry Udon. Sounds nice but taste nice or not? Read on...

The udon I ordered was salmon udon. Salmon and udon were okay. But the curry... Well, I still prefer Indian version, or the original spicy version. The Japanese version would get you sick of it very easily.

The starter was good, grilled chicken wings... Oh yeah!

After the dinner we went to Settler's cafe to continue spending our time. Played some games... I like those brainless games, no need to think one... lol But the last game seriously is =.=

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic!

My newest addtion!

Wanted to get black/silver edtion (it's the latest colour la!), but don't have stock. Never mind, red is nice also, so took red in the end.

Have been following its news since its debut. And after it's launch, it gaining the popularity there. Guess Nokia hit it right with the correct features on a phone. It's quite nice to use actually. Here are some of my opinions/review (whatever you called it) to the 5800 XpressMusic!

Sales package: 10/10
Nokia is sincere in sales package given that this is a mid-range phone. In the box, standard things are given and there is a pouch, a strap with triangular plate and a stand! Stylus give 2, in case you lose it. 8GB card provided as compared to SE W595 where 2GB is given.

Design: 9/10
I like the design! 109g make it look very sturdy. This is quite subjective anyway. 3.5mm audio out jack is good.

Construction: 8/10
Some squeaks can be heard when pressed, particularly the battery cover. Then there is a small gap at top right corner whereby users complain it's a smiley gap! Other than that, no issues to built quality

Display: 8/10
Wow! 3.2" LCD! nHD (360X640) 16:9 resolution is good enough for me. But colours are not as vivid as on SE. Nonetheless, no complains from here.

Touch sensitivity: 8/10
No comment on this. It's good.

Software: 8/10
It's fast and responsive already, compared to my N73 which is so laggy! Wallpapers can be put fullscreen, but sadly it can't be like SE where big wallpapers (resolution being higher than the display resolution) can be resized to fit nicely. Well, this have to do myself. SMS saved in SIM card could not be retrieved. What a "smart"-phone it is...

Music: 8/10
A few opinions here. Nokia could have make it better by fully utilising the big screen. Nokia could have placed an icon at the playing interface to access the songs in the playlist. Quality is good there. Radio interface is super cool.

Camera: 7/10
This is a XpressMusic phone, so camera is a big let down. Picture quality is about the same as N73, not too bad. Since I'm getting another phone which is camera-orientated, this doesn't concern me too much.

Typing options: 10/10
Almost all possible input methods are provided. QWERTY (full/partial screen), alphanumeric, handwriting (full/partial screen) all 5 are present. And for the 2nd time I've seen on a Nokia handset able to type traditional chinese characters! The first one was Nokia 3310. Unusual for nokia phones in Singapore be able to type lor. A plus point here.

GPS: 9/10
Installed Garmin and GoogleMaps. Load fast too. They make 5800 a very powerful phone already. - 1 point for being so juice thristy.

WIFI: 9/10
Connection is good. Youtube videos load and play smoothly. No complains here.

Battery: 8.5/10
Well, it's a new and BRAND new battery. Have to season it before I can tell the answer. But given its initial performance, I would say I'm quite impressed by it.

The day has came, for me to send a good friend of mine, Dominic, off at airport.

Well, I've some sort of expected it liao lar (He mentioned this back in K9 days mah). But I don't really hope this day to come. Haiz... Isn't it very 矜持 of me?

1. Rushed to West Mall to do the write-up on the scrapbook specially done for him. Personally, I felt it's quite well done! But too bad I don't have the time to join in the back stage work. More on that later.
2. Went for haircut to be able to look nice on photos.
3. Knock off half-an-hour earlier to fly down to airport.

Choo asked me to wait for him, then we went airport together lor. Was expecting a bit late liao. But surprised to see no. 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 on CIA train. Reached around 6.30pm. But glad that we were not late at all.

Then had popeye chicken as dinner, there chit chat a bit. All the specs left after the dinner first, kinda a strange scene. Upon knowing that Tang coming, Choo and Bay face changed! Haha... Aiya, he ok de la, keep low profile can liao. And the six-sir there... LOL~ Don't get caught huh~

After that dinner, we siam to one corner and over there we presented to Dominic the scrapbook. It was enclosed in an almost-A4-sized yellow-brown envelope with a "ON GOVERNMENT SERVICE CPL (NS) KARL DOMINIC JAMES". Interesting indeed.

Dominic opened up and everybody gathered to see the outcome of it. It was very nicely done! He noticed my block of text - pointing at the 'MAJ (RET) Karl Dominic James' addressing note. Yeah! Even specs and Tang wrote something for him.

All the best to you!

I'll always remember:
- The only one who has the most nonsense to it. But think in another way, he's entertaining us!
- The one who looked interested in almost everything when he was posted to K9. 'cause I still remember he keep calling and looking at me as he walking up to the hill and I booking out. Apparently he don't know who am I.
- His batch's 1st meal at K9 was with me, back then I skipped lunch and was doing my 1st usms. And we started to introduce ourselves and chatted

After the sending part, me, Jia Yun, Geraint, Leon and Edmund continued to chill out at Holland V. Continue to chit chat about K9 and people stuff. Reached home 2am.

可爱鸭 Cute duck... QUACK QUACK~

（英國‧倫敦）據報導，英國多西特郡一戶人家養了一隻“迷糊”鴨子，它以為自己是條狗，並在主人遛狗的時候形影不離。
現在，它終於被家裡的2條寵物犬所接納，每天都會一同外出散步，這在當地形成了一道頗為有趣的風景。


《每日電訊報》報導，這只名叫“埃西”的鴨子已經9個月大了，它出生2個月時，由圖菲特夫婦從一個農場領回家飼養。
“埃西”走起路來喜歡搖晃尾巴，有時會試著吠叫，還常常與它的2個“犬科朋友”爭奪食物。儘管有自己的窩，但它似乎更喜歡和狗睡在一塊。

模仿狗引人發笑

圖菲特說，“埃西”模仿狗的樣子實在引人發笑。
他表示：“我們在當地是出了名的，大家都爭相出來看它，人們很喜歡它。它不知道自己是鴨子，而以為也是狗，還主動找街上其他的狗一起玩。人們對此很不解，狗似乎也很困惑。到後來，我們不得不給它拴上一根寵物鏈。”
家裡的2條狗對“埃西”十分友善，每次散步時都會走在它的兩邊，保護它的安全。
圖菲特夫人補充：“除了寵物鏈，它還有了自己的寵物證。一起走路的時候，2隻狗會特意放慢腳步，以便讓‘埃西’跟得上。”



Essy the duck wags her tail, tries to bark, and competes for treats with her canine companions – two Staffordshire cross dogs.

The nine-month-old Cherry Valley duck is often seen walking the streets of Bournemouth, Dorset.

Her owners Steph and Tony Tufft got the confused duck from a farm when she was just eight weeks old.

Tony Tufft, a boat builder, said their unusual pet has been amusing people by acting like a dog since she arrived at their home in the Charminster area of the town.

Tony, 35, said: "We are known throughout Charminster. People come out of bars to see her. They love it.

"She doesn't know she's a duck. She must think she's a dog.

"She goes up to other dogs. People can't understand it and the dogs are really confused as well.

"We even had to buy Essy her own lead, after getting strange looks from people who thought we were duck-napping."

His wife Steph, 25, added: "It's as if Brad Pitt was walking on the lead, the amount of people that come out."

The couple's real dogs, two-year-old Rashka and four-year-old DD, are very protective of Essy and walk on either side of her.

And although Essy has a bedroom of her own in the airing cupboard of the couple's home, she prefers to sleep with the dogs.

Mrs Tufft, who works as a dog groomer, said: "We take her on walks. She has a lead, a high visibility vest and a collar.

"The dogs set the pace then she catches up and walks in between them."

Essy has now got her very own pet passport, in case her owners decide to move back to Tenerife, where Mrs Tufft lived 18 months ago.

IT show + Geraint's hse overnight stay + 鼎太丰

Met up with Choo to go IT show. Wanted to buy the ultimate priced HP laptop @ 1299. For me, just walk walk around see what's on good offer. But someone wouldn't wish to lend his student card, so Choo wanted to try his luck there.

Waited him for 15 mins! The crowds just outside City Hall MRT was really O.O Almost can imagine the crowd at IT show.

Then we went in together, super crowded. Went around to look for the HP booth.

*LCD TVs are popular! Even display set also labelled as SOLD!! O.O

Unfortunately, the guy answered it's not so possible without that powerful student pass. Guess we had to make it a miss. And the crowd waiting to receive the laptop was also O.O

Had dinner at burger king. Choo's treat. Thank you Choo!

P/S: Everytime they said it's Singapore biggest IT show... But the place is still the same also useless, it will get worsen over the years due to the crowds. Look at the pictures.

Then back home, washed up and went out again, to Geraint's house. There, only Geraint, Weilong, Dominic and Edmund present. LOL~

Played some games, then chit chat. Apparently, Dominic was not the usual cheerful and full-of-wacky-ideas Dominic I usually see. Wonder what happened? Guess it's Falco.

After that, I played Katamari on the xbox while something happened behind me (on the bed). Cannot disclose what happened. Censored...

Early morning got woken up by the cold. Edmund stole the whole blanket to himself =.=

Oh ya, Geraint has a car now! So good... It's a beemer!

Evening had dinner at JP 鼎太丰. The dessert ordered was 芒果布丁. Along with it was the mock up ice kacang, but with milk instead. Heavenly made.

Foxmarks

This is a program (in FF context, it's an add-on) to synchronize the bookmarks I have in the browser.

It can be used in different browsers and/or in different computers.

In the past, I used to export the whole bookmarks out, now only just some clicks, all my bookmarks are back up to an on9 server already which I find it quite good!

Then I learnt about Acronis backup/restore. This software is just too powerful liao la... LOL!
