12 August Brunch and 'nua' session
HL wanted to try out Epicurious before school starts. :( and :) So me, Nicholas, HH and her met at Robertson Quay's branch to try out their dishes. Both me and Nic dressed in pink's shirt! HL almost wore pink shorts/skirt out too... And if HH also wore pink, that's a bit impossible le.

Had Green Eggs and Ham ($14.60), Baked Egg with Toast Soldiers ($14.60), Monte Cristo ($15). Sadly no mushrooms liao, so they replaced with fries, which were normal IMO... Monte Cristo was nice, while the rest were so-so lo. Nothing worth commenting lol.

Next, we moved to Kith Cafe nearby. Had chocolate orange milkshake ($6.50). The taste had the typical choco orange chocolate you can find in supermarkets. But, there's this malt-like thingy inside the drink and I could felt it. Overall it was a unique drink lo. The best part is no svc charge no GST! The mocha blended Nic had, the taste was so strong! OMG, no need sleep at night le.

Talked about the grad trip made me super excited! Want go Taiwan and Korea!!!

After that Laurent Bernard Chocolatier, also nearby, for some chocolatety desserts! We had some soufflé and ice cream scoops  (Price range about $11-15).

Witnessed some soufflé interesting actions - the French are good at making creamy stuff. LOL... The desserts were very nice! HH scooped the remaining chocolate soufflé, kzdg... Prefered the alcohol version one, very very very nice. Raspberry ice cream wasn't very nice, quite sour IMO...

Dinner settled at Javier's. OMG, withint a year(?), the price was raised $3, 真的有一點離譜。But anyway, had a rather healthy dinner (chose mainly veggies, tomatoes and bread) in contrast with HH's onion rings, hashbrowns ONLY.

Had some walks around Mandarin Gallery before we decided to rest some 5-10 mins at the 'bed' there. Lol.

14 August Surprise farewell dinner for Nicholas

It was planned - we planned to give him a farewell dinner, but impromptu - because Nicholas suddenly can't make it for Sat's gathering.

So happened that Nicholas was around Jurong area, HL and HH 特地趕下來西部, we were able to 順手推舟 to have a surprise dinner for Nicholas.

Headed towards Haw Par Villa via the Circle Line. Oh my, HL still want to make joke like 'oh, we missed the Kent Ridge station, let's U-turn...', quite lame 有沒有？But anyway, I think Nicholas was caught off guard - he didn't know West Coast there lies 주신정 restaurant!

The restaurant had chair seats and floor seats. We had no choice but to go for the floor seats because the chair seats were more popular (fully taken up). Have to 跪著 when eating lo.

김치전 + 해물파전

불닭: 樣似焗飯，而且蠻油的

Had 김치전 ($20), 해물파전($20) and a 불닭 (鐵板雞肉) ($35）. The 김치전 wasn't that nice as compared to Katong's branch - it was thin and much more crispy, this one was thicker and not crispy at all.

The 해물파전 was slightly better - a bit more crispy, but the seafood inside was pathetic :(... The prawns were so small! But on the other hand, it had some 'eyes' on top, just lack of a mouth to complete a face.

The 불닭 (鐵板雞肉) was quite different from Katong's branch, we were a bit surprised the moment it was served. We thought the waitress would cooked the thing up, fry fry fry before letting us to continue frying the food. But it was already cooked when it was served! And what's more it had cheese included, the Katong's one didn't have.

Realised the standards between the east and west branch are different. Thought it should be under same company?!

After the dinner, they didn't want to go home so fast yet. So we headed to Creamz @ NUS for some ice cream desserts! The price compared to outside was really cheap already. Had peanut butter, rum 'n' raisin and one more flavour which I forgot what already lol. Continued laughing all way long. It was a nice gathering anyway.

Review: first week in school
After a week has passed, time to review the year 4 modules I'm taking.

NTU第四年的第一餐韓式魚柳($6.80)，希望有好的開始！:)

EE4303: It was almost a nightmare, information overload for me. I guess I need some time to digest what the lecturer was talking. Talked about the MOS structure and all the equations, suddenly jump to the phase shift. 3 hour lecture can cover EE3003 as a whole!

EE4341: Easier to digest than EE4303, pace was ok, which I pretty enjoyed.

EE4648: Interesting module! Tutorial 1 was going to have an excursion to Jurong Point. Lol... Going to look awkward and funny when 20+ people hanging around electronics store to take a look at display screens available on market. Lol...

HW0310: So far, I hadn't touched on this yet. =X

EE4041: Human Resource Management module! After hearing the course structure, I guess it won't be an easy module. And omg, have to wear formal + tie?! :( Managers (at least for engineering side) don't wear tie all day? Some even just wear polo with long pants wor.

ES8001: This one also quite rigorous. Quiz 25% at every lesson before and after?! Ahh, have to do constant revision. :(

FYP: Glad found some more readings on my project, at least for the generic device. :) But there's a simulation sofware tutorial to read up - to familarise myself with the software lo. Later got to do the project using the software. Also found another person doing something similar, but ultimately is different outcome, can study and research together lo. Lol...

17 August Dinner at 주막

Someone suggested to have supper on the first day of 七月？

But luckily changed to dinner - supper is no-no lo. I wanted to go back to Bukit Timah area, together with PG, YC and HY. Went to Lotte Mart before the dinner to buy some banana milk and snacks. Lol...

주막 restaurant wasn't crowded at all. So we 4 people took the 8 seater... OMG! Ordered 삼겹살 ($30 for 2 servings) and 부대찌개 ($30). First time had 삼겹살, it was rather interesting: put the meat onto a veggie leaf, then top it with some soy bean sauce, then put kimchi and finalyl wrap it and put into mouth. It got the freshy (from veggie), meaty and oily (from meat), salty (from sauce), sourly (from kimchi) taste. A variety mix. Interesting meal.

The 부대찌개 basically used whatever could be found from cans (beans, tofu, rice cakes, 午餐肉, sausages) then add a noodle cake and cheese and start cooking. I love Korean dish actually, where it was meant to be shared among all diners. No need to order individually and then share here and there. For Korean, just need 2 big main dishes with 반찬 and you can have a decent and fulfilling meal le. Nice! But PG felt the 부대찌개 was rather expensive - he prefers BBQ! Oh my, talking about BBQ just ignite my craving for that. :(

So coincidentally, saw SQ on way back. He's also in around Upper Bukit Timah area for Korean dinner! Haha!

First day of school

Today marks the first day in school after about 9 months of somesort 'holidays'. Also it's the first day of my final year.

People have been saying year 4 should be able to slack a bit here and there. But I feel that it's the busiest and most hectic, taxing, exhaustive year. Why? Becuase there's FYP.

For a start, I don't talk about FYP now as meeting prof tomorrow morning. Talk about first lesson - i.e. EE4341.

OMG, even I couldn't find the tutorial room as it isn't the usual tutorial room I've been attending. Was panting and sweating all over place once I sat down.

*Should have googled its exact location. Stabs self! What a way to start school plus some exercises! I think I might slim down if continue like that.

The lecturer had done with about 10 slides and the moment I started listening, he was talking about transfer function (laplace), the magnitude, phase, this and that... Was quite lost on the whole lecture. The myth about first lecture being introduction and talk cock session seems a fake and far reach for me. :(

Then bumped into KK, You Jin, YS, Henry today. Lunch with You Jin at executive cafe. Nice fish filet though, as long as it's not fried. Chatted quite a lot. Haha!

Heard about infocomm first lecture not that hardcore wor... Well, in a way, electronics option has always been the most 'siong' option of all EEE courses. But to go with passion or go with sheep herd mentality? Study with passion will overcome the difficulty obstacle? I have no answer for now, perhaps I will only know by May next year.

My biggest worry is actually FYP.

And the elective is making me headaches. Not about the content, but the way it's conducted. No doubt, every 2 quizzes per lesson is quite like American style - to make sure students really absorb and understand the course in constant manner, but a bit 誇張 IMO lo. Would say a quiz every 2 lessons would be nice.

*Got the feeling that I'm the lao jiao of NTU - year 4 - all seniors have graduated, including Bay. Felt good for him as no need to bother about tutorials, exams, can't get on to 179 bla bla bla. I just need to survive for one more year, before it's my turn. Somehow it just feel like NS, the counting down feeling is just I-don't-know-how-to-describe...

開學

今晚的這帖子就是要說下過去幾個月的‘休息’與一些心得和想法。

真的，覺得最後一兩個長假（5月到8月）都好像沒有休息的餘地，都跟讀書一樣忙，甚至忙過讀書。

今年有些變動——因為我有半年在公司實習，就一些生活習慣有所變動，比如我不用做功課啊、不必煩考試事情啊之類的。還蠻爽的！呵呵～

之後跟著放假，實不相瞞啦，過得蠻充實的。真的太多太多節目了。有時候回想，如果沒有節目的話，過著平靜的日子也不是不好。但真的，以後出來社會開始工作，慢慢社會圈子就跟著變小，日子也開始平靜下來了。

我的社會圈子曾幾何時就開始縮小了，約人約不動，SMS/Whatsapp也沒人回應我，蠻可笑的。

開學了，最後一年，把它過完，就算是結束19年的學生日子了。所以我不要覺得可惜，要很有意義地過完最後一年。有得聚餐、聚會就真的要抽空去啦。當然也要開始開動引擎，全力衝刺，我的目標是一等榮譽學位！

可始終，假日心情好到都不捨得回返校園，還想著要玩。

唉，寫完這帖子就要告別假期，真的要收拾心情，重新出發了。

Brunch + hi-tea time

Went out for brunch with HL at Food For Thought @ Queen Street yesterday. HL was late as she had to exchange something at Plaza Sing. Had to wait as it's full house. Luckily I only waited for 5-10 mins, indoor somemore. Quite fast.

We shared a single serving of Full Works ($18). It was really not bad given the huge serving. Liked the mushrooms! Sausages and the potato ovals were special. Bacon tasted like 肉乾, but don't understand why people think it's hard? It's not hard by the way.

After the wonderful brunch experience, we went to Kith Café @ Park Mall to enjoy coffee in the super super 'wonderful' afternoon. Wonderful as it didn't rain, but add in apostrophes meant the sun was blazing hard at us... Would be nice if go cycling or outdoor activities. Basically, we just lazying around.

Had hot Mocha coffee ($4.50), tasted good. Same went for HL's Latte ($4).

*Elective result out and my ICT really conflicts with the exam dates. Looks like have to defer no matter what. Unless miracle happens?

Decided not to stay for too long, we walked to Tom's Palette as HL got the craving (she always got ice cream craving one lol). Not near to Park Mall but it's not far too. About 20-25 mins of walk is omg. HL was super excited about the 김치전 after she ate the one at 주신정! 誇張到她～～ 不行的說。

*Spotted changes to POMO and Park Lane Mall. I didn't know there was this ComeBuy bubble tea stall, but apparently it zap lap liao. Market in sg too saturated --> very competitive, I think.

Being a student has a lot of priviledges! 10% off for me. Granny's favourite and rum and raisin for $2.90 only. Still they are my favourite flavours.

Then we walked back after Nicholas said he doesn't know how to go Shaw Tower. BX~ Another long walk to 김대문.

*Again, I noticed Plaza Sing undergoing some cosmetic renovation now, and it looked rather similar to VivoCity and Ion fused together. Hired same designer? Lol... Also noticed that it's expanding at same time too... The open space now used for retail space I guessed.

This time round I decided to have 鐵板雞肉 ($6.50) as I had too much 김치볶음밥 in the past. For a change mah... It was rather big serving, damn full after the meal.

Sat there and continue gossiping here and there until HL and Nicholas suggested go Café Cartel @ Plaza Sing for some off 50% snacks/drinks/desserts. Had the New York Cheese Cake (50% of $6.40 = $3.20), rather dry and it became 'powderish'. Not very nice. The waffles shared ($9.60) was so-so. But we continued our chatting this and that, until Nicholas 向 HL 逼供所有東西出來！

*其實，我都覺得自己矛盾（雙子座的本性）。人家的私人事，其實知道與否，通常都不會對我有很大的差別。但有時我會特別八卦問下去，有時則不會特別感興趣。只有一些會直接影響到我的事情，是誰都當然會興趣知道啦。是能怎樣，不是又怎樣？感覺好像活在自己的世界醬……不對不對，是活在一個可以我行我素的世界。我不會刻意去想這些事情，只是平日的事物都夠我忙，不會去想了。

This is part 9 of the back to blogging series, starting with events from June till now. I have not been blogging about the events and thoughts for the past few months. I feel that it helps when you want to review a couple of years later back what has happened today. So I make it a point to blog these things down, even though they sound trivial. This is the last part of the 'back to blogging' series as I've caught up the events! Haha...

*Today is Singapore's 47 birthday. How time flies, remembered last year we went out on a Tuesday to go see the fireworks.

6 Aug Just went out to town
PG told me he'll be at Holland Village in the afternoon for a short while. So he suggested to go town in the late afternoon and have dinner in town lo.

Took 185/106 to town. It wasn't crowded. Yay! Thumbs up for going out on weekday! Should really enjoy while we can on the last few days of possibly the last long holiday le.

First, we went to Wheelock Place to check out Marks and Spencer. The deodorants selling there smell nice, but the price may not be cheap(?)... Then explored the food section. In the end, didn't buy anything, lol.

Then went over to Ion, surprisingly quite a number of shops in the basement had some wooden boards covered up (wind up business or renovation). Not sure what's exactly the reason, but possibly it could be the high rental. Ion experience huge crowds in the weekends though.

Then went over to Uniqlo, omg, they had some simple T-shirts on offer. $4.90 per piece. Bought an orange and a black shirt (one rounded and one V-neck shaped) for less than 10 bucks. Really cheap!

After which, walked over to Takashimaya and looked at stuffs. Bought my highlighter there. LOL... Tempted to sweep more pens, but I guessed I must resist the temptations liao.

Walked to 김대문 for dinner. PG wanted to try out the Thai food from the Thai stall while I wanted to satisfy my cravings for Korean cuisine. Hehe... Again, bought the 라면 ($5) and shared the 김치볶음밥 ($5) as I starting on budget already. Lucky us got seated at earlier time, the crowd at 김대문 got worsen!

Next, walked from Dhoby Ghaut area to Tanjong Pagar (yes, we wanted to exercise) as we wanted to see what's Tom & Toms Café. AFAIK, Tom & Toms Café is a coffee café outlet from South Korea and they're quite famous for ready-made pretzels.

We didn't try the pretzels as we were too full from the dinner. So we went to try out their drinks (damn thristy!), I had raspberry smoothie (라즈블랙베리이탈리안슬러시), small sized, $6.20. PG had Green Tea TomNccino (그린티탐앤치노), small sized, $???.

甜，不是說不好喝，但如果不要那麼甜會比較喝得下去^^

The raspberry one was sweet! Overwhelming! Slightly less sweet would make the drink better. The green tea one was nice. Wanted to try out other flavours like mocha, mango, etc.

Chilled for the remaining hour or so. Watched the live table tennis women team match between China and Korea on iPhone. Oh ya, not to mention the café has free WiFi, but the receipt didn't state the passcode.

The ambience was not bad, I think it has a 'warmer' feel compared to Starbucks, like for e.g. the tables at Tom & Toms were light brown vs dark brown used in Starbucks outlet. There were power socket at almost every seat! Good for charging laptops, handphone while spending half of the day there. The best part was there're plain water available and it's free-to-refill! Damn tempting...

Towards the end of the day, got a SMS from MINDEF and I got a call up! 猶如晴天霹靂！Wasn't expecting something good because the call up only issued now - likely the ICT will be in December.

All correct as I've guessed, the ICT is indeed in December, but the problem is it clashes with my exams! WTH... 去年又不叫我回去，不然又不會放我跟WL, MG, Kenny一起，再不然也不會在6/7月叫回去…… HH, Sebastian都做完三個了，剩下七個而已。As much as I hope to start ICT earlier (so that no need to take IPPT/IPT/RT asap), but really people on the last year liao still make it so 慘.

Plus I had FYP also, 這次不懂怎麼死了。Think once school starts, have to be in exam mode liao. :( Sad...

7 Aug IPT-IPPT
Called to raise the issue I have, most likely is that they will give time off. What about the 2 days before? I no need to study? Or I bring notes in to study? At least let me know what's the schedule also...

Now have to wait for elective's result out then decide what's the next step. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly... 實在是諸多麻煩...

IPPT was rather smooth. Of course didn't do well. But running clocked in 13:12, surprisingly I still can run better than previous attempts, considering I didn't exercise rather often. Lol...

30 July Starbucks complimentary birthday cake

Went to Starbucks @ Rochester Park to redeem my complimentary birthday cake before heading down to HH's chalet.

Surprised to see this - it was almost full house - thought not much people will patron there. Ordered a hojicha with earl grey jelly drink (need to pay though :( ) and chocolate peanut butter stack ($6.80 but F.O.C.).

The drink was still nice as ever but I can't say the same for the cake. It tasted rather nice initially, but the caramel on top began to made me sick of the taste very easily. But nonetheless was a nice try lor.

30 July - 1 August Chalet

Was watching Olympics somehow and reluctant to move out of house. LOL... Don't want to go down to chalet so fast. PG also moved out late.

After the chilling at Starbucks alone, I continued to move off to wait for Nicholas at Aljunied MRT. Gave him some time allowance to bathe, pack and travel to and fro home.

Upon reaching Costa Sands Resort, saw HH, PG, ZX, Sebastian and HL playing sgs. Ok, me and Nicholas took dinner first. Then the whole lot watched channel 8's 花樣人間. Lol, watching TV at a chalet. =.=

Then continued some games, diamond dash before sleeping. Oh ya, we also watched Olympics events. HH was totally 不行去 - kept playing sgs on iPad till just before sleep and immediately after waking up... OMG, 完全不行去.

HL didn't stay so she left home.

Woke up shivering because no blanket and air con was blasting at 18 deg C. Really beh tahan, so woke up rather not too late. Breakfast with Egg McMuffin at nearby McD before I go home then go ice skating.

Then I headed down to Tanjong Katong to meet up the gang for dinner. They wanted to have 주신정 for dinner @ Katong. So ok lor, we went there lol. HH didn't go because he will not fall for Korean food, 不行的說.

Took bus 12 back to chalet from Katong - a long trip. HH was already in the chalet waiting for us. My goodness, he's sick yet eating KFC =.=

Continued watching Olympics, this time round HL commented 'black forest' on the Australian weightlifter Seen Lee. What a comment! And what a scene! Tsk tsk... On the other hand, gymastics and diving were nice to watch also.

This time round, Nicholas didn't stay overnight, 取而代之的是HL.

*Somehow I really wanted to kick Sebastian off the bed, because 4 men on 2 single-sized bed was... squeezy with HH around.

The 2nd night was so much better than the 1st one. HH has been grumpy since he woke up, wth... As if whole world owes him like that, keep on nagging and nagging out of nothing. =.= But I shoot him back at the foodcourt eating 齋米粉 breakfast. Asked about the 齋米粉 thingy, HL replied but he cut back saying 'not asking you'.

Then at the breakfast, he changed face, asking HL why don't eat. I immediately retaliated by saying '明明是你自己剛才問誰要去吃齋米粉，然後說問題不是在問她的。現在又問做莫人家不吃=.= 對不對先？ 很奇怪咧你……' My point is 既然對人家要不要吃齋米粉沒興趣，幹嘛還問長問短，講那麼多做莫？Pek cek...

After the breakfast, me and PG took MRT time - a long journey from Pasir Ris to Lakeside. And so sway, it rained just as I reached Lakeside.

我覺得既然大家都各得其所，舉辦三天兩夜度假屋固然沒錯。但要大家在這三天都在度假屋是有點難度，而且你也不弄節目來 =.= 來客都覺得沒事做 + 顯56789下。

31 Ice skating

Managed to sneak out of the chalet on Day 2. Rushed home with dirty clothing and bathed before I headed out again.

Was rather late, but I had a bit of lunch so I'm not that hungry, i.e. the rest can continue their lunch at Old Town White Coffee Café and I can join in at slightly later date.

Had iced white coffee ($2.50). Sweet, but not overpowering. I would say passable. Can't comment on the meal sets though.

After the lunch and we've got some time, went to a nearby watch shop as YB wanted to browse at some watches. After some comments giving and consideration, she decided to buy one of them as own birthday present ($260++). Not cheap, but it's nice.

But the watch was damaged when handling by the shop attendant, so was told to collect at a later time while she went to other branches to get replacement.

On the other hand, we went to the ice skating rink. Bought tickets with rentals for gloves and shoes ($19.50 for 2 hours, I would say more expensive liao). We wanted to find back the lost memories created 9 years ago when we skated at the same location. We were only sec 3 then.

Remembered during that time, the group was bigger, with Huai'an, Yuan Sheng, Yee Loong, etc, but the rink was smaller. And cheaper too! Vaguely remembered the package was 4 hours one. This time round, the ice skating rink was Olympics-standard sized, i.e. bigger than old one lo.

At the start, I wasn't very comfortable with skating as I haven't really skated for super long time. Kept on holding the parapet at the edge while I slowly inching forward. But somehow, I managed to skate myself towards the end of session. LOL... 無師自通！

Sharon was rather comfortable from the start. Poor me and Jesslyn helping each other to balance and kick start the skating. On the other hand, YB experienced pain on their legs, think the shoes were not suitable for her ba.

2 Aug last IPT training
No more NSMen PTI, decided to makan here and there. The chin up

*Saw Yat Kan at RT last week! OMG, even he also can't pass IPPT? I wonder how many of us actually pass the cruel test now.

3 Aug Went out alone
Wanted to redeem the Starbucks new flavour offer. At the same time got myself and relative each a new microSD card.

Took 198 to Starbucks @ Rochester Park. Was horrified and shocked to find the sample drink was so small compared to PG's one redeemed at Orchard! A bit pathetic lol...

After the drink, dinner was turned down by Shi Hao, Bay and Chee Chuan, so decided to go home for dinner lo.

*唉，難得自己有空，人家都沒空。即使是普通會面聚餐而已，也越來越難了。

Continued my trip down to Bugis Sim Lim Square where the memory cards were bought. Initally wanted to get extra RAM for own desktop, but after some thoughts, let off the thoughts - next time upgrading of computer would be major overhaul, by then the technology, standard, specification and layout would be different from now. No point.

*有一陣子也蠻想買大一點的顯示屏的，最好是23-24吋。

After which, basically toured around Bugis/Dhoby Ghaut/City Hall, went inside Shine Korea @ Bencoolen, but did not buy anything. After which, also patronised Shine Korea @ Marina Square, realised the same things there were more expensive, guessed due to the higher rental cost. As usual, Marina Square does changed quite a bit. Think Topman moved out of MS and Marks and Spencer is getting ready for opening in Sept though.

*週日出來逛街就是這麼美好的一件事情，不用去跟人家推擠地鐵，逛街也有些呼吸的空間。
