Last post for 2013

This post shall be marked as the last post for the year 2013. This year, including this post, I would have blogged 111 times, significantly more than year 2010, 2011 and 2012. And more recently, just felt that I'm back to the usual blogging self! Hope this carries on to 2014 and further into more years to come!

Recounting 2013... a lot of things have happened, especially big events. Firstly, it would be FYP which undoubtedly is the most important assignment for the whole university course for any undergraduate student. FYP took up lots and lots of my time but also at the same time, not only I can learn something out of it, I also made up some friends which now become a clique already haha~~

Then came after that was graduation trip, also my first time taking plane, first time going Korea, Hong Kong and Macau, first time driving a LHD car, first time driving in Korea. Lots of first time! It may not be a perfect trips due to weather, changing in plans, conflicts in thoughts etc... But surely I've enjoyed the trip, mainly because of the lengthy stay outside of Singapore! But I could also stay here for long long periods without taking plane too, afterall already endured almost 25 years liao, a few years is chicken feet lol...

Next was convocation. It signifies the end of the 4 years of studying in university. It could also be the last time seeing everybody, except those still keep in contact la. In short, it is a joyful occasion and more importantly, a milestone in our life journey.

Lastly, job hunting. I must admit I've failed in this aspect. I don't know if I've made the right choice. But passion vs reality which one to choose? Reality may say go business course then go into banking, audit, finance industry since SG is a financial hub. But passion for maths and studying engineering allows me to enjoy solving the maths problem and experience for myself how things in real life work. They gave me the satisfaction too.

Of course, timing and luck plays a part. Connection is really important, seeing that many people got their jobs through connections, in a way they are lucky as well. Job hunt, perhaps is more like a gamble...

Considering the above 4 events, I've managed to complete 3 which is not too bad already.

So what comes in 2014?

Year 2014, for sure, would be a very different year. Afterall, being a student for about 20 years, finally can no need to be a student. Happy or sad? For now, it's sad because have so many things to worry about. Future? Don't know. Since 2013 can't find any job, then 2014 would be the year when I start out my career. I may be late, but I'll try my best to catch up, thanks to the period which shaped me to what I am today, the spending habit of mine have changed a little bit.

Resolution for 2014? The biggest wish is to get a job! And also wishing everybody healthy and huat ah!

Happy new year 2014!

Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE)

Whole day hear about MCE causing massive jams.

Source: LTA

Source: ChannelNewsAsia

MCE is the newest expressway in SG which is about 5 km long, cost $4.3 billion to build and opened to traffic on 29 December 2013 9 am.

Today is the first working day the MCE experiences.

But why MCE? Because compared to KPE which affects the people living in the north-east part of SG, this MCE affects people from both east and west. MCE is not built to offer convenience but to replace part of ECP so that the area can be freed up for future developments.

Also, no more scenic views of SG's CBD area. It's quite nice to view from cars actually, I even got to view while WALKING on that bridge (considered as part of ECP) lor. This will go into history le.

Now if I were to move out of my house and travel to Suntec by car, I can't go up Benjamin Sheares Bridge and exit to Rochor Road, which is the most direct route. I have to another route in between meeting with lots of traffic lights via Bayfront Ave, or long way via MCE then ECP exit from some places further than Fort Road (this exit when going west only diverts drivers to MCE), make a u-turn before going up Benjamin Sheares Bridge and exit to Rochor Road.

Very inconvenient indeed.

To make things worse, now there are ERPs around and the trip has so many traffic lights. Lots of negatives than positives.

People are saying the design causes the jam. Example 2 lane slip road from MCE to ECP. Previously it was 4 lanes, now only 2 lanes. Assuming the trend didn't change, the same traffic is going east now what, so it's worse when now only 2 lanes serves the ECP. Arbo make it such that 3 lanes serves ECP, 3 lanes serves KPE lo, sounds more logical like that lol. And also the signage, I feel there could be a better way to present the information. Words are too small (ceiling is too low la), therefore arrows not obvious enough. Destination markings could be made on road surface, so that drivers could see, no need rely on that small but illuminated road signs to avoid going from lane 1 cut across to lane 5 so jialat.

Yes, design is a problem and somehow because there is still phase 2, as the new road cuts the unwanted portion of ECP, so works aren't finished yet. Lots of diversions ba I think. Having said that, it's still ridiculous that a new expressway built liao causes more jam than previous ECP-AYE route. Expressways are supposed to move vehicles at large volume and high speed so to avoid congestion leh, but this defeats the purpose lo. Heard now traffic are diverted into CBD areas! Really bo wei gong, CBD is not supposed to have heavy traffic leh, especially those 路過 ones. And there are ERPs around... Looks like drivers are screwed now.

Definitely there's a better way to manage the whole thing ba?

Gym + The Brew & Bake Company + Zion Riverside Food Centre + Patisserie G

After 2 weeks without exercise, it's back to exercise again! But I felt my body going to 散掉 after some initial exercises, aigoo... Anyway, last few days of the year always in festive mood - so cut some slack for myself hee~

Lunch was Penang char kway teow at JE Blk 347 hawker centre there. The woman who shared the table with us, asked us where we bought the CKT, 完全喜洋洋去~

Damage: $4

Went home to discovered a lot of Pepero boxes lying around. 原來爸媽去昇松超市買的,5盒才$2.85,每盒才57!便宜到脫褲去!頓時間垂掉去。

Tried out 毛瓜 which mom bought from Perak for the first time. Nothing much, just that the 咬勁有一點不一樣而已。Also tried the 炒江魚仔臭豆, really sedap!

WX bx over cakes recently. Previously didn't hear him make noise want eat cakes before wor, except for the secret recipe @ JB. Went The Brew & Bake Company to have some drinks and cakes as suggested by PG. Xyy~

A bit surprised that the previous Creamz zap lap liao and this Brew & Bake replaced it in its location behind NUS. Aigoo... 不禁會想起HHCreamz老闆事件。

Actually the real reason of visiting the cafe was to enjoy the 1-for-1 drinks offer. I ordered a hot roasted almond latte ($4.90, for myself) and a iced hazelnut latte ($5.50, to be shared amongst us). On the other hand, PG had hot strawberry latte ($4.90) and WX had this iced vanilla latte ($5.50). The roasted almond latte was ok, nothing fantastic to shout about but I wanted to comment on the hazelnut drink - it was super duper sweet! It's no wonder why HH love it over other drinks...

For cakes wise, we ordered peanut butter candy bar pie ($5.90), peppermint pie ($5.90) and stormy choco guniness cake ($5.50). The pies had a rather thick crust below the fillings which looked good and tasted nice as well.

Peanut butter candy bar pie ($5.90)
I liked this because it had a rich and fragrant aroma to it! Aigoo...

Peppermint pie ($5.90)
The peppermint taste was just nice, a little bit more I would have commented as strong peppermint taste liao. Of course 好吃的說!PG loved this.

Stormy choco guniness cake ($5.50)
Basically, the shop added some guniness beer to the cake but I couldn't make out the taste. Only after a few bites before I could identify it. The least popular among the three - PG disliked this.

The overall ambience scored high points but because the weather outside was cooling, I would have preferred they switched off the fan - it was so blazing cold under it until I shivered. Played sgs with them, WX was commenting about the new sgs update.

看得完全入神

*I really begin to wonder why sgs was removed from Google's play store. Firstly, it isn't any adult-appropriate app. Secondly, I don't think it violates play store rules because the same game could be found in Apple's online app store! Assuming the rules and regulation governing the apps in both stores are largely the same la.

Damage: $9.40 (Total $28.30)

Then we were so undecided where to go for dinner at the very last minute. At first, it had been decided that dinner place should be at Adam Road Food Centre. But suddenly don't know WX or PG say don't want go... Aigoo... Then Zion Riverside Food Centre popped up out of nowhere. Anyway, took 151 to leave that place first since 151 could reach the Adam Food Centre. It also can reach Zion one by alighting at Sunset Way and transferring to 75.

So the final decision was to go Zion Road as they found that the Zion one is more popular than the Adam one. LOL~ Then suddenly WX 失心瘋 say this was cake tour! And he even suggested go Patisserie G for more pastries! 計劃一直改來改去醬我有點接收不到的說……

PG was astonished that the Zion Road hawker centre is just opposite of Bistro pizza place which we went to celebrate Sebastian birthday ds. Hehehe...

Ok, so we first went to Zion Road hawker there. The queue for 蝦麵、滷鴨 and 炒粿條 was long, especially the 炒粿條 one - 現炒現賣,很費時費力咯。Surprisingly, the 老吳菜頭粿 which supposedly to be famous, didn't have any queue at all. Bought a $6 serving one with both black and white versions in one plate.

我愛吃的菜頭粿!

As a white carrot cake supporter, the white one was a little bit disappointing - the taste was a bit bland and not much fragrance. The black one, not only oppose the white one in terms of colour, even the taste as well! Aigoo, it was so nice that my vote goes to the black one this time round. Found that the soy sauce taste was strong but not overwhelming like others I had from some other stalls. And I could identify some '焦味' which already is a bonus to the black version! Usually the black version won't have so much '焦味' as compared to the white version.

Damage: $2 (Total $6)

Then took 75 again to City Hall area. The whole bus only 3 of us onboard and the bus whizzed past Tanjong Pagar and Raffles Place area without stopping, which made the trip very fast! Upon alighting, Millenia Walk appeared right in front of us. First time know this lo.

Went in Patisserie G as there was still 1 more hour to go before the shop closes. WX wanted to order 'G spot' (yah~ his G spot lol~), but after seeing the other one, he completely tio poisoned. So in the end, ordered 2 pastries: blancheur ($9) and saint honoré ($8). Blancheur is a pastry which is about tennis ball size and is milky white in colour as it's made up of white chocolate. Saint honoré is something different - had cream, hardened caramel which tasted like some cheapo candies ds and danish-type of bread.

這個好吃!
裡頭有類似雪糕的奶油
讚!

看上去很美一下
味道則普普通通咯
沒什麼特別的

Personally would prefer blancheur, nothing special about saint honoré leh. Then WX was really tempted and considering whether to dabao two G spot pastries back home for supper and breakfast. Aigoo, at the end he also went home empty handed. LOL~ 省錢節儉是中美德喔!

Damage: $5.70 (Total: $17)

*I think I'm back to the usual blogging life before uni started, starting to take down details for blogging. Perhaps I should take more photos? Hehe, so as to create memories as I blog about everyday life, well ALMOST. Uni really leaves no time for me to blog. Exams, tutorials, quizzes... 忙這些就夠了。

Sgt Kim shared the following video on Facebook. It's a eye-opener to how the Japanese decorate the streets and buildings for Christmas. SG? Totally lose out to them!

Then Yi Da shared an article on what happens when soap bubbles are being blown at -9°C! Interesting discovery!

Best moments

賣個關子先~

When time is right, will explain in details what is this and why I'm doing it. Hehe...

Today is the last Saturday of the year 2013. Nothing much had happened, except that the wall outside the kitchen, toilets, bedrooms are now painted in white.

Did have the thoughts of going out. But who can I go out with? No money also, otherwise if I have a job liao I could ask everyone out on treats. Bay mentioned about karaoke. I insisted to go JB for karaoke session. Then he mentioned about not going to patronise party world liao, coz the system lousy - can't even drop the key! Twice we went, always something happened to our precious 3 hour stay there.

1. 門把鬆脫出來
2. 降不到key
3. 遙控收線不好不然就是系統有問題

In the end, the conversation ended off just like that, without any concrete conclusion, which meant staying at home for the whole day lo.

Cooking. Again.

Due to time constraint - sis went out in the afternoon, bro and cousin working, decided to go for simple and easy and fast to-make dishes. Didn't really cook a lot this time round. Only pan fried Korean dumplings for 4 pax.

本尊煎的韓國餃子!

Sis did the most cooking work while I cleaned up the mess afterwards.

Another dish whipped up was 烏龜豆+炒蛋. Yummy!

*Don't want to argue with you.

If you say the offer cannot be used, I'm fine with it. But you went on say that I bluffed... Then went on say nearest outlet is Tampines bla bla bla, tell me this for what? Are you trying to say I should look for offers/promotions that can be claimed at Tampines, or in other words, trying to do things in your favour? Lastly, still say share might as well don't share. Never mind, still shoot Sebastian after that. 分明在找碴!That attitude from you was really offending, so much so that don't want to talk to you.

IMO, it's a very very very trivial matter.

Share also kena, don't share later also kena or say 沒招. I don't think I have the obligation to go all the way to spoonfeed you so that you no need to do anything. Simply because I'm not very interested in the offer nor I'm a staff there nor you are a small child nor require any special attention. Afterall, I didn't notice there was a webpage on safra website to explain term and conditions for this. QS~

If you are unsure, can always simply go internet, do a google seatch and clarify any unclear and unsure stuff you want. Moreover, nobody actually interested in that offer, only you. Yes, only you. As Sebastian mentioned, it's only a cup of gongcha - didn't get to drink also won't die. So what if can't claim the offer? Nothing will happen, life still carry on and you won't suffer any loss.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!

Rather busy these few days, due to doing lots of housework, so here's the blog post consolidated with updates over the few days:

23/12/2013 煮飯燒菜

Last time when small only helped to fry and cook the dishes, now coz parents are in Malaysia for holiday, this was first time really go into cooking. The two dishes made were 包菜花 + 燈籠椒 and 黃豆 + 煎蛋. Both were relatively easy to made, that's why it's for beginners like me to start cooking mah. Haha...

Initially thought the salt and oyster sauce added were too much, but after tasting it was perfectly fine wor. The most important thing is timing and ensure the wok/pan is completely dry, i.e. no water must be present on the surface as it would be a disaster if oil is added. As the saying goes 水火不容......

Then cousin also came and stay for a few nights while parents not at home to accompany sis. She also tried out the two dishes, luckily it's edible! No laosai until now means cooking is ok!

Cooking seems fun.

24/12/2013 Korea KkoKkoMyeon 꼬꼬면 + Xmas celebration at uncle house

Afternoon went Jem to look for pepero @ Watsons and to try out the Korean 꼬꼬면. But an accidentally visit to NTUC first had an interesting discovery - NTUC also having pepero offer and each pepero is cheaper than Watsons by 3 cents (77¢ vs 80¢)! Without any hesitation, I bought 10 at one go and also 5 packets of 꼬꼬면.

Evening went uncle house for Xmas dinner gathering. Didn't see anything on the table made one wonder if 嬸嬸 did 親自下廚 for the day. Then realised they ordered Pizza Hut and KFC lo. The fried chicken from Pizza Hut wasn't bad lo, especially the BBQ flavoured one.

KFC還有pizza hut
好像很多炸食
不能減肥了

Didn't like the original one from KFC, no taste at all. Crispy ones were okay. But as I was on diet, there was a lot of food. 吃到很撐了. 打包薯泥 and the seafood stick home.

Also, didn't get to drink the fruit juice available. (Never mind, bought the same fruit juice yesterday so as to compensate lo)

堂妹!

很調皮喔

 他以為全部都是他的禮物
Aigooo~

 樹桐蛋糕
聖誕老公公很可愛hor?
哈哈

Lastly, the logcake was surprisingly nice given that it was from some neighbourhood bakery rather than atas or branded ones. Yummy!!!

Then here comes the most embarassing moment, they gave us Xmas presents and 指明 must open in front of them. TBH, I didn't think a lot at that time. Open ah? Then open lo. LOL, as long as nothing too scary or too impactful until heart cannot take it was fine with me. LOL~

Tada! The present was banana! Aigoo, 古靈精怪的idea,真的完全不行去。Anyway, it was a joke and the real presents were given to us later on. It was Toberlone chocolate! 고마워요~~~

Cozy and fun gathering indeed.

25/12/2013 Gai gai at City Hall
Merry Christmas everyone!

Noon time reheat up the yesterday KFC leftover, 糯米雞 and 荷葉飯. Cooked up to try out the 꼬꼬면. Conclusion is that don't judge the book by its cover - the colour of the soup may look yellowish-white, not typical of Korean dish, but infact it's quite spicy! The feeling was great actually. Overall, it's a nice bowl of noodles.

*Realised Edwin doesn't celebrate Christmas which I guess everybody would think otherwise...

Then 2.15pm went out with sis and cousin to recce for CNY clothes. Have to start looking for new ones as CNY is roughly about 1 month from now le and usually as date nears there is not much time to do such shopping lo. Everybody is busy doing spring cleaning by then, especially on weekend coz not working mah.

*Should have chosen Blk 458 that bus stop instead of Blk 457 one. Saw one 98M and 187 each whizzed past in front of us. That means another couple of minutes of waiting time. =.=

About the train ride, I almost forgot that we were going out on a public holiday - the crowded train had so many foreign workers going out on PH. See liao also sian. It's as if we boarded the train at peak-hour period.

Went Suntec to see see look look. First stop was H&M, big difference between the women and men section. Women one so big, men one so small but not as crowded as the women one, so easier to navigate around. Nothing caught my eye at H&M though cousin bought a 紗布 kind of skirt.

Sis wqbx over Bread Society breads. So after H&M, it was snack time! First time trying out their cinnamon roll ($1.80), it was delicious but a little bit ex. Cousin tried out the almond pretzel, also $1.80, naise~~

After which, went into Uniqlo to recce for clothes. Both of them spotted those checkered shirt for me. Too bad, the store doesn't have M size for that pattern one. Again, they bought basic tees for men (don't know why they like shirts for men one) and one maroon cardigan for each. At this point of time, I thought might as well recce not buy anything le.

Next stop was Lowry's Farm. They had nice shirts TBH and the colours were quite unique. $39.90 for a Japanese store was ok. Shall KIV this.

Then went to this Lapalette outlet. Didn't know this was from Korea as their bags and the overall feel was quite western. Their bags looked nice and price also nice as well. One backpack bag selling for over $300! It's an atas shop!

After which we ended tour at Suntec and moved on to Marina Square. Bought some baumkuchen cakes ($2.30 each), a bit pity that they didn't carry any other cakes for sale. Sad...

Then went to central plaza to take pictures...

Didn't know Joseph was behind us queuing up for Dian Xiao Er. In the end, we didn't patronise it as me and sis preferred Swensen. LOL~ They both had mega lamb burger ($16.50) while I had teriyaki chicken pasta ($16.90). The pasta and chicken were tasty lo. Didn't want to try the lamb as I don't really like lamb, not to extent until dislike and don't eat lo.

Mega lamb burger ($16.50)
如果可以
我盡量不吃羊肉
因為煮不好會有騷味

 Teriyaki chicken pasta ($16.90)
好吃喔

Thanks cousin for the dinner treat! :) She recently just got promotion and that's a great news to hear!

Then trained back to JE. Visited NTUC @ Jem to get some fruits and yoghurt. And of course the fruit juice. By this time my legs almost gave way le... Aigoo, didn't go out for a long time and my legs beh tahan the long hours of standing up.

感覺不像在Jurong East
美到~~

26/12/2013 Nook-D.I.Y House of Pancakes + Necessary Provisions + Lynn's Cakes

Went out around 1.30 pm to Nook-D.I.Y House of Pancakes (FB page) off Jalan Jurong Kechil by 157 for a late brunch (actually it's lunch + dinner). PG saggy because no bus. Had he went to Blk 303 bus stop, we might be on the same bus!

The place was quite bustling (a bit towards noisy) but not crowded which I had guessed otherwise. Breakfast Bully (U.P. $18) was a full course meal - bacon, sausage, ham, veggies, tomatoes, bread, mushrooms, baked beans and lastly scrambled eggs, really stomach fulfilling.

Breakfast bully ($18)
整盤吃下去後很飽!
喜歡它的雞蛋跟香腸
當然香菇真的是香到鬼……

Because it's on Facebook promotion, this dish's going for $8 only. 物超所值了!

Damage: $8.80 (Service charge included)

While halfway dining, suddenly it poured. PG totally saggy because he didn't bring umbrella! Aigoo... Took the partially sheltered route to the next stop - Necessary Provisions. Luckily I know the area agar-agar, so as not to lost our way in the midst of the rain... 拜託……

Necessary Provisions looks more like a coffee cafe than a all-rounder cafe or food-centric cafe. The people there were sipping away a cup of coffee while using the computer. Overall the environment was cozy enough with not-so-bright spotlights used to light up the whole place. Actually spotlight environments are perfect for taking nice photos! Makes one feel sleepy though lol. Would be better if they include cushion chairs or even sofas!

喜歡它以綠色作為杯子和茶碟的顏色
顏色對比強烈
又不會太突兀
帶一點自然氣息
很有視覺效果

Shared one 8 oz. white espressed based coffee because we just want to take picture only lol. The name or their way of calling the coffees seemed weird. Didn't see words like latte, cappuccino, mocha, etc. In the end I had to ask the barista for clarification lol. An interesting thing to see is that the espresso based coffee has one price for all sizes. It's a no-brainer to take the biggest size if one wants his money to be well spent.

About the coffee: wasn't the best coffee around. It seemed to me that the milk didn't mix well with the coffee and was fighting with it to see who stood out in terms of the taste. Foam was thick as commented by PG so he didn't like it very much. Maybe black would be better?

Damage: $2.50 ($5 split between us)

And the last stop was Lynn's Cakes a few shops away from the Necessary Provisions which is located at the corner of the row of shophouses. Most likely it was just newly opened not too long ago as the furnishings looked super brand new.

There wasn't any customer in the cafe. So we sort of made ourselves at home. Just as we thought the Malay girl would serve us, suddenly coming from the baking room behind was a very 熱情 ahjussi. He made some recommendations and said that the red velvet was the best selling one. Didn't have any interest in it as we only had the rainbow cake in our mind lol.

Ordered a slice of rainbow cake ($8.50), chocolate heaven cake ($5.50) and a cup of maccha latte ($5.50). The rainbow cake was the main attention and it's only offered in weekends and special occasions, so happened that 26 Dec was one day after Christmas so managed to savour it! It was made up of 6 coloured cake layers sandwiched/covered by layers of orangey flavoured cream which wasn't too fattening I guess. Initially we assumed each colour had individual flavours, but the ahjussi proved us wrong by saying that all colours were orangey flavoured!

The chocolate heaven cake, as what the ahjussi mentioned, wasn't too sweet and surprisingly it didn't give me the 'richness' or the 發熱氣 feel. Guessed this was just nice for a chocolate cake treat!

Maccha latte was satisfying. Nothing more, nothing less.

Throughout the 2 hours stay there, nobody came in and sat down for a teabreak. Occasionally did see people came in to collect cake or order cakes lo. My explanation was that it was a weekday afternoon la. Anyway, that area was really transquil, but not so good location wise. Only one 173 serves the area and of course wasn't very convenient for me to go down lo.

Ahjussi service also top-notch. There's this family visited and bought some cakes from the cafe, then he personally delivered the cake box to the car some distance away as the father and mother doesn't have more hands to hold on to the box. 貼心服務總是會加分的!
Upon making payment at the cashier, the ahjussi came out to serve us instead of that Malay girl. Aigoo... He asked PG how was the cake while I was packing up my stuff lol. Overall it's quite a nice experience hehe.

Damage: $9.80 (Total $19.50)

Tried out the Picsart app on phone. It's quite a powerful app, not only it can apply filter, it also can do photoshop-like editing works such as, overlays, clone, on top of the usual crop/resize these simple works. Hehe!

To my surprise and not-a-surprise, this app could be found on iOS platform as well. Since this is a photo editing app, therefore the bigger the screen, the better the editing experience. So imagine using iPad to edit the photo... Aigoo gives me more reasons to love my Note 3 and iPad. Now getting more and more tempted to upgrade my iPad liao. Geez~

Uni clique: JB trip + Xmas gift exchange + dinner at uncle's house

Participants:
1. Me
2. Max
3. LF
4. CY
5. HY (didn't go JB)

Woke up 7.30 am on yesterday and somemore slept at 2.30 am this morning. Went to buy newspaper then straight away go out le. Happened to bump into LF on the NSL train at JE. Aiyoyoyo, she didn't know only need to get one thing for the gift exchange. Nonetheless, thanks LF for the extra gift! Appreciate the thoughts! Then saw CY first to arrive - the bus Max was on broke down. Aigooo... 衰……

*I can't understand LF's point of view: Android is easier to use than iOS. Why?! I still can't think of an answer. IMO, Android has always been the more complicated version of iOS. Yes, iOS does need iTunes to do the music/picture transfers, but after that, it's really simple to use without frills. Moreover, it's really easy to pick up the skills of using an smartphone and possibility a computer too.

Then more things couped up! Although this time round the queue seemed a little bit shorter, the waiting time for 170 was horribly long! And the worst was that the queue broke right in front of us! Had to wait for the next 170 which took almost eternity to arrive. By then, the queue for trucks already stretched from the checkpoint entrance to Kranji MRT! OMG!!!! *心想完蛋了,過去都不懂幾點鐘了* It was so much worse than the previous 2 times I went JB lo.

*Finally I know what's going on at CY's company - 到底要不要請人的. After hearing all the good points about me from CY and why the company isn't hiring me, it looks like luck really isn't on my side, maybe it's really due to year end that's why a lot of companies typically freeze the headcount. Please, let me have a job to survive! I do want to earn money to support myself and parents de.

The clearance at SG and MY checkpoints were quite fast, queue was non-existant. The huge amount of cars crossing the causeway, jamming it is most likely the reason why 170 kept arriving late. We saw the CW1 bus 一輛走後緊接著另一輛又來, clearing the queue quickly. Next time should take that, don't mind paying 80 cents to save the time and queuing woes of 170!

*That Indian CW bus attentant lost his temper after a uncle passenger, whom he claimed, was talking bad about him. What bad thing was it about, I don't know coz didn't hear him speaking out. But the vulgarities the Indian uncle spewed out just wowed me, 果然五彩繽紛啊!

Lunch at Seoul Garden. This has to be the last dining option for me because I thought the food was average at best. Not much wow factor and it's not even a Korean BBQ outlet. Mee goreng was nice leh!

Damage: RM 44

Then jalan-jalan shop around, as usual didn't get anything this time round. Saw Hebe album promoting event at concourse, was a bit excited waiting to see Hebe in real person. At first it was already 15 mins late as the event supposed to start at 3 pm and I thought it was the jam that caused Hebe to be late. Later the announcement informed that she couldn't make it to JB, 看來很多人應該很失望的說,有些還特地去買專輯要得到親筆簽名的說。

Anyway, 一小騷動之後, it's back to shopping time. Then suddenly someone caught my attention just in front of Sharetea stall before I took escalator up one level to continue shopping - it was Edwin! He didn't notice me, so I walked up to him secretly then wave the RM notes in my right hand in front of him. Then he realised it's me lmao. Aigoo, didn't expect to bump into him in JB ds. He was here with his family to spend the Saturday, 當天真是他的家庭日啊!Anyway, need to meet up with him lo.

Lastly, bought some breads for next day from Lavender. Saw the egg tarts and bought one to settle myself on the spot. LOL~ 上次沒買到啊~

By 4 plus, we already left JB custom le coz need to meet HY for gift exchange mah. Saw the CW1 bus and we whole gang swarmed over to it. Thought it was RM 2, but only cost us RM 1 to get over to SG... Kranji MRT somemore. There wasn't any 170 around at the time we took CW1. Saved a lot of time!

After nuaing at the kopitiam at Kranji MRT station, they wanted to take cab to Hougang. I was so unlucky until I bo wei gong - kena bird shit while walking to the taxi stand and then my water bottle cap rolled onto the road and dirtied! Aigoo, LF wanted to get some water from my water bottle and she thought the strap was intact, so she opened it up and let it 'sprang into action'. But because the strap linking the bottle and cap had been broken, the cap flew and dropped and rolled onto the road. Didn't dare to drink the water inside liao. Threw the bottle away ls.

Anyway, didn't manage to get a cab as it was the changing shift time. Took MRT to woodlands and then 161 to Hougang instead, quite fast actually as 161 cruises on SLE and TPE. First time visiting Punggol and was a bit lost, the flats there are almost same!!! And it looked like JW new town too.

Then we set up to give HY a surprise by not telling her that we already at her house downstairs. So asked CY to call her and bluffed to her that after the balloting, he was supposed to pass the Xmas present to HY. But at the very last minute, CY 破更 and the plan failed. He was supposedly to lead HY to the playground and treat it as me, Max and LF wasn't around. But he kept looking around for us and thus HY knew the plan! Haiz... LOL~

So what happened was that my Royce present was for HY and CY's cash present was for me.

Chatted a bit at the playground before we moved to a western restaurant which HY recommended. Aigoo, had a very hearty meal over at Chef's Hats ds. Didn't want to eat liao due to the buffet at Seoul Garden. In the end cincai order lor - treasures from sea ($12.90), crispy fish fillet ($11.90), mixed platter ($16.90) and some ice-cream waffles as desserts. But the food was quite nice and the ice cream was delicious! Since the chef previously worked at Ritz-Carlton Millenia and MBS, the food really got standard leh! A bit disappointing is the waffles, could have been warmer a bit. For the price, I think is quite ok liao, except for mixed platter which I don't think is worth the $16.90 tag, more like at most $8 only, coz it contained those calamari rings, onion rings, nuggets and chicken wings.

Treasures from sea ($12.90)
海鮮意大利麵

Mixed platter ($16.90)
最不划算

甜品最ok
Waffles再熱一點就完美了

Damage: $10

Towards the end, me and LF took bus 161 to Hougang and trained from Hougang to Lakeside via CCL. Perhaps it would take up more time if CCL isn't there coz I felt that it was quite fast to transit from NEL to EWL with the help of CCL. Otherwise I think it would take 161 back to Woodlands and then train down to JE ba.

PDA with two lesbians on trains. Aigoo, want PDA, please go somewhere private la baituo...

Evening went uncle's house for dinner.

耶!V.V

是不是很可愛咧?

聚春園點心自助餐 + Tolido's Espresso Nook cafe

Participants:
1. Me
2. PG
3. WX

Supposedly to meet WX at JE MRT station at 12.30 pm. But I scared late, so told him to meet around 12.15 pm. In the end, it's me who was late lol, only to reach JE at 12.30 pm. Took bus 49 to Lakeside MRT station - first time wor. Not many people taking the bus - that's why I was guessing why suddenly got this route.

Got off at Raffles Place, took exit F, somehow I got lost after coming up from underground. Managed to get the correct direction after checking the map on phone. It was 1 pm liao. Kan cheong liao. Scared cannot reach on time and was denied to enter restaurant.

Went past 東方紅 and Telok Ayer MRT. Talk about 東方紅, it's the Korean-Chinese restaurant where I had the 자장면 for the first time and I was hooked by it. It was opposite of Telok Ayer MRT. I almost forgot that there is a new MRT line called downtown line and first stage of the line is scheduled to open this month le. Don't foresee myself using this line very often wor.

Fortunately, after some frantic search for the restaurant which was quite hidden inside Far East Square, managed to enter on time. PG already reached well before the timing, went in first. A bit disappointed that some of the dishes that we wanted to eat weren't available. Such an atas (considered it quite atas gua) restaurant and it's not even end of the day, yet dishes were 'out of stock' =.=

The food was ok actually, but the irony was that the dimsum of the dimsum buffet didn't taste good. The 燒賣 was mediocre at best - doesn't taste fresh. The 蝦餃 was worse - the taste of the prawn and the outer crystal skin didn't go together, it was very very very tasteless. Didn't know how to describe this, but it was rather bad.

The rest were okay. The 叉燒包 was quite ok and 叉燒酥 was even better, loved the outer baked puff! 蔥油餅 was exactly like prata and nowhere 蔥油餅 taste lo. 五香 was heavenly! Ordered desserts as well, but nothing to write home about them. As for 上海泡芙, at first I thought it was REALLY a dessert, but it came more like cooked dish - 豆干 + 花生 + 醬油. 怎麼看都不像甜品。

Lastly, the desserts were decent. I had 3 cups of 杏仁豆腐 leh! 滋潤養顏哈哈!

Oh yea~~

也就這樣而已

 上海泡芙
以為是西式糕點
原來是那麼中式的
有一點給名字騙去

I thought I would be the first to raise white flag as I really want to cut down my diet or food intake, but the most unexpected one was WX! Lol... 完全不行的說 and he said he going to have early ramen dinner at Clarke Quay area. Ooommmgaakkkk~~~!!!

Damage: $23

After the lunch at 3.30 pm, it was drizzling. Walked towards China Square, WX want get a new pair of slippers while PG need to log in to internet and I sat there watching 'The Heirs' and playing 'Asphalt 8' on my iPad. *Feeling tempted to upgrade iPad! But shall wait for iPad Air successor*

Then walked to The Central, the rain was a little heavier than drizzling, so took shelter at the mall. Nothing much to see, except for the Korean Rolling Rice eatery place at the basement. Then stayed put at Burger King until rain stopped. Till then, I was addicted to Asphalt 8 racing game while PG used his laptop. Tethering didn't consume so much power as I expected, guess the power management and the battery performance exceeded my expectation le ba. Switched on the tether for more than half an hour and the battery drops from 59% to 50%. So it should be able to last more than 5 hours just by tethering, that's a good thing to know :)

Then walked to Suntec City. The mall is halfway done with renovation and we couldn't find the Royce at its old location. The part where Carrefour was located is now sealed off to the public. No wonder now Giant moves to the basement for business. Wondered what kind of shops would open at that part now.

Found Royce at the newly renovated section. In the end bought Potechi Crunch Chocolate ($15) for the upcoming Xmas gift exchange event with uni clique. Also changed S$50 to RM.

With nothing to do at Suntec, me and PG headed Lavender for some chilling session at cafe. Halfway dropped by Shine Korea to shop for banana milk and persimmon drink. In the end, we found the cafe to be at the junction of the road leading to Concourse and Astons and Shine Korea. Literally we went one big round to get to the cafe. The cafe was called Tolido's Espresso Nook [https://www.facebook.com/tolidosnook]. It's rather unique because it's found at the void deck of a HDB block.

Went in and found that no much people at the cafe and it was quite adequately decorated. Wall sockets could be found everywhere, so using laptop and enjoy a cup of coffee isn't a problem. It should be a great place to spend whole day as well coz can charge phones and tablets lol. As I was quite full from the dimsum buffet, I didn't want to have a full meal for dinner - went with sandwich 'Croque Monsieur' ($6.50) instead. Looks french hor? lol...

Hot cafe mocha ($5.20)
不是我喝

Croque Monsieur ($6.50)
三明治夾著烤火腿
再用芝士蓋上它
拿去小烘
美味的說

PG had a hot cafe mocha ($5.20). Nice latte art there. To be honest, the food and drink were really reasonably priced and the best part is that no service charge and GST! *Shrieking out~~* Service was quite good too. Where can find another place like this with free electricity, no service charge and no GST yet can enjoy a cozy cafe ambience?

Think would visit again to try some other food and drinks ds. Nua nua nua until 1 hour past its closing time of 9 pm before took 197 home. Still got household chores to do before sleep! T.T

And then HH told PG that today was his last day at work! Eeekkk! All our spectulations were wrong! PG thought he quitted a week or two earlier, while I suspect he might have gone overseas for holiday. The most bx part was that he told PG that he left work early and never get to see the people there because he would cry if otherwise. Aigoo, only temp job baituo. What's there to cry~ Not as if forever won't meet up, still can keep in touch de what....~~~ But anyway, since it's from his mouth, there were some doubts about the credibility - his words aren't 100% true liao.

As I was typing this post, the large display estate area benefit me a lot, now I open this blog and food folder so that I can do referencing all at one go!
