The Haze is Back

We didn't expect this, but it didn't come with a surprise.

Taken from another forum, forums.hardwarezone.com, these pictures show the severity of the haze on 7 Oct 2006, the worst day of all...

Mid-Autumn Festival 中秋节

First of all, wish you all a happy mid-autumn festival! 中秋节快乐!

Today's air quality hasn't got any better, in fact it turned another way round - it got worse!
Since two weeks ago, I have been noticing that there was a tinge of burnt smell. Something strange though. Only recently then the media reported it that air quality drops.

This entry should be about mid-autumn festival, why am I complaining about air quality? Simply because I can't stand it, so I'm here to frustrate! haha

Ok, speaking about mid-autumn festival. It is a very special festival indeed whereby the centre of attention is the moon. It is said that moon will be the biggest, brightest on this day. True or not? Waiting to be verified. haha But I must say that given the hazy air, it is quite difficult to see the moon. Sad.

Mooncake is one of the delicacies served during the festival. It comes with a wide variety. However I liked traditional the most (传统月饼). I find others impossible to beat the traditional ones because simply they only satisfy your taste buds without bringing out the real festival taste.

Basically there are 5 types of mooncakes:
  1. Traditional mooncake. (传统月饼) This type of mooncake is quite commonly seen in shops. It has a thin crust with lots of fillings which can varies also. The outer side of the crust is golden brown in colour. Looks nice and tastes well too.
  2. Snowy skin mooncake <- whatever lah! (冰皮月饼) This is another variant. It must be refrigerated at all times. The crust is spongy and you need to tear the crust really hard, before you chew it! haha...
  3. Pudding mooncake (布丁月饼) This is a new type of mooncake to appear. It really looks like a pudding and tastes quite close to pudding. The only difference is that there are fillings inside the mooncake.
  4. Mini mooncake. (迷你月饼) Shan't comment further. It can be one of the above 3 types.
  5. Wacky mooncake. (不可思议月饼) This type of mooncake is usually very expensive. Too bad we can only look but cannot eat!

Mooncakes are often consumed with tea. I wonder why mooncakes sold here do not carry a small packet of tea leaves?
