Poor abandoned Husky + British English vs American English? + Note 3 kitkat update + Breakdown again?!

Saw a forum thread on this husky. Very disheartening after looking at the pictures and reading the captions.

The copper husky is quite cute but why abandoned by owner? She was found motionless but conscious at a void deck of a HDB in Boon Keng area on 19 Jan morning. Purposely highlighted the words motionless and conscious to show the seriousness of the situation. 垂死的掙扎…… Look at the surrounding, of all places at void deck, she laid down at the washing bay. Can imagine how dirty with those dirt, dirtied water that came to contact with the dog. :(:(:( Looked like she had nothing to continue living on and was waiting to die. The dog doesn't have to deserve all these sufferings. :( Poor thing. :(:(:(

狗狗好可憐喔 :(
不過幸好有一群愛狗人士拯救牠!
終於看到一線曙光了

Luckily got dog lovers went to rescue her and bring her to the vet. They named her as Grace. She was very lucky! :) I'm going to follow up and see what happens next.

Shared this piece of news to Bay and the first comment he made was 'wtf 滅絕人性'. Very cruel hor? Then he said why I make him see such sad news. I admit I was quite indifferent to dogs, cats, etc. before I was a dog handler. But after spending one and a half years taking care of dogs, towards the end of NS, of course there would be, more or less, a tinge of 捨不得的心情 towards them. I must say I have grown a caring heart towards animals now.

現在看到動物都會有一點憐憫之心。

看到這個新聞,簡直是傷心欲哭的說。

How many of us could properly differentiate and identify British English and American English?
Previously, I thought the differentiate centred around the spelling differences and different common words referring to the same thing. Being educated under the British English, I've tried my best to stick to it as far as possible.

But now, I learnt that the difference is far more greater than I thought. For example, cookie vs biscuit. While cookie is so common that I myself also use it often, it's American English. For British English, it's strictly biscuit.

Another epic example is fries vs chips. A lot of us would have assumed fries refers to the fried long strips of  potato and chips is something rather flattened in appearance. But the actual fact is that fries is an American English term and chips is the British English one, both referring to the famous fries we could eat at McDonald's. Then what is the term for the nacho chips in British English? It's called crisps.

After reading the whole thread, I thought the English I use is actually more American than British. Maybe it's due to the culture export of these two countries. Just movies alone, usually they are American movie and hence the English in the movie is American English.

Very interesting discovery.

Afternoon saw the KitKat 4.4.2 update is available for SG Note 3. Without any hestitation, I went to settings and tapped to see if there's really any update for my phone.

To my surprise, on the first try, indeed there is a update! Samsung has quietly roll out the update for SG region! Hehe... That's relatively fast, no device other than the Google Nexus and the Google Play Edition (S4, One, etc.)

The 424.35 MB update took 1 hour to complete. Some of the obvious changes include:

- Super fast unlock transition! I would say it's not just fast, it's 快到鬼 instantaneous, it's even faster than the already fast iOS.
- Battery indicator has changed from green/red to all-white.
- Font changes at notification page.
- Cannot write to SD card by 3rd party apps! Especially my Line Camera、美圖秀秀 and PicsArt! Developers need to update the apps baituo. No problem with stock apps writing to SD cards. Phew. For now, I have to save those edited photos to device first.
- Available ram 2.38 GB now expands to 2.71 GB, an almost 0.5 GB increase!
- Noticed there are a lot more indications for 'awake' which wasn't the case in Jelly Bean 4.3. But on the first feel, the battery life is about the same as before. Not sure if there is any real improvement to battery life. But given that no sacrifice to battery life yet significant speed improvement, it's a very good news le.

Another breakdown?! Heard there's another breakdown at Redhill MRT station at around 11.10 pm, affecting greatly the west bound train. According to the report, the train door opened and closed for more than 10 times then announcement was made to request passengers alight from the train. Aigoo... PG went to Clarke Quay to XYY listen to some very 38 singers at some pubs (he mentioned something about 將心照亮), then he took 197 home. Had he chosen to take MRT instead, he would be affected by disruption ds. Just by this week, don't know how many breakdowns liao.

Chatted for 72 mins 14 secs on phone. After telling PG about Nicholas's concern which was revealed on Wednesday, PG also had similar thoughts as Nicholas ds. He said though the things aren't happening now, he clearly remembered when he was checking on 'people following' updates and then happened to see that Wiyatno liking some special-themed instagram photos. Omo omo omo eeeekkk!! Looked like everything fits into the jigsaw puzzle and slowly the big picture is coming out ds.

He maintained that even if it's true for Wiyatno, he's quite neutral with such people as long as they don't disturb his personal life.

Aigoo, shan't talk too much about it liao. Aigoo.
