They allow me to resonate to certain parts of my 24 years of life, as for now. ^^
This is part 4 of the back to blogging series, starting with events from June till now. I have not been blogging about the events and thoughts for the past few months. I feel that it helps when you want to review a couple of years later back what has happened today. So I make it a point to blog these things down, even though they sound trivial.
Managed to book all IPT slots before the next window starts. Phew~ Should be able to finish all sessions before school officially starts. Life as a NSman... This IPPT is really killing me. Those belong to type A/B really need to IPT/RT for life. :(
14 June 2nd Korean class
In 2nd lesson, 시아 continued to teach us the rest of the consonants and vowels. The moment ang moh entered the class, expression showed on 시아 was super epic. Like never seen ang moh before. Lol...
The fact is I self learnt some Korean language when 한류 had just started in Singapore some 10 years ago. So it was relatively easy to me, than to PG or Nicholas. Haha...
At the end of the lesson, we headed to McD downstairs to quickly work on HH's scrapbook. Oh my, what a mess we created at McD and I didn't buy anything at McD. LOL!
Especially liked the photos I've chosen for the scrapbook.
AJM, happy 24th birthday!
15 June HH's birthday
Met PG and we headed down to Liang Court to touch up the scrapbook. Sebastian came later and did his part for the greeting messages.
When time's up, we walked over and start our ambush at Watami @ Central. Hui Ling also arrived and we started to discuss the seating arrangements. LOL... What a thing to do! But there's also JC batch coming to celebrate as well. Thanks to them we were only able to hide our presence lo.
HH reached Central early and he wanted to claimed the Starbucks complimentary birthday cake for himself, but failed. He felt low, citing nobody celebrate for him... Aiyo!
Still complain Watami not as nice as Sushi Tei. =.= Really 沒話講. Sushi Tei doesn't have private room 好不好?
Once the birthday boy stepped into the reserved private room, he was shocked that we were present too and PG did not leave Singapore for Bangkok. LOL! What's more his JC friends merely mentioned meet up for dinner. Seriously, you didn't realise something wrong meh when you claimed yourself so emotional?
Ordered Watami tonkotsu ramen ($12.80) and tonpeiyaki ($8.80) as side dish. Ramen was ok, but not as good as ramen specialist outlet like Tampopo. Tonpeiyaki was tasty though.

Tonpeiyak:
After the meals, it was time to really celebrate the birthday. First, the cake was brought in and it contained nothing but just chocolate (awww, that's really fattening!)! Then, the presents were given to him.
Look at the epic expression on his face when he saw the photo frame.
*In my opinion and some thoughts... When young, I did had some expectations for birthday - be it presents, cakes, wishes bla bla bla... But as time goes by, with I myself being more matured. Also, I'm more self-sustained economically - able to buy stuff myself. These expectations don't really matter that much now.

*My take now is that if there's celebration, keep it simple, there's no need to 大費周章, I'll be very happy already. However, if there isn't any, I'll move on with life too. There is nothing to feel so low about it. You can't expect such celebrations when you reach 30, 40 years old? Or even when you've came out to society to work. Nobody is going to take leave together with you to celebrate (if you want to). Don't expect otherwise.
16 June Ringke J3 screen protector and case
Bought the accessories on 6 June from Rearth US store (http://www.rearthusa.com), only arrived now. Total damage was US$16.99 (casing) + 7.99 (S.P.) + 9.44 (direct shipping) = US$34.42 or S$45.32.

Rearth is a Korean brand (http://www.rearth.com). No wonder I was able to find J3 casings under this brand. Otherwise, I would be having headache sourcing for a suitable casing.
Talk about the screen protector first. The sizing was almost perfect for the player - second only to the 3M one on my iPhone (3M didn't give any allowance for any opening). The package includes 2 screen protectors, a cloth and a squeegee. All seemed like carefully thought through and designed to me lor, which was a plus and why I chose Rearth.
Then comes to the casing. At first I wanted to grab the black colour one. But come to think of it, it may just look plain dull. Then I wanted to get blue, but realised no more stock. In the end, settled for sky blue, which is not bad la, but not good at hiding the dirts. At first glance, it look super silicon-ish, but it proved me wrong after I physically touched it. It doesn't belong to the cheap soft silicon case. Instead, it felt somewhere between silicon, styrofoam and plastic feel, which was not bad.
The quality of both screen protector and casing were very very good, if not excellent. But wearing the casing on the J3 was a super difficult task because you only had 3.3" screen size hole to loop over the whole J3. I was stuck at the last top 2 corners for 10 minutes figuring how to 套過去.

After putting everything into place, I then officially start using the J3. OMG! The sound quality was superb! After some tuning, on the UM1, the J3 managed to provide some punch and made the music not so flat. Immediately I could hear some differences liao. UM1 is famous for mids, so tend to underperform in lows and highs.
The customisation on the sound effect is really huge, I can make the J3 to play sound I desire through the numerous settings. On the other hand, the iPhone has only some presets on the equaliser and forbids any customisations.
On the other hand, iPhone wins with super buttery scrolling and supports lyrics on ID3 tags. J3, with its flash-based OS, suffers a bit of choppiness here and there. But by no means it isn't unable to deliver, afterall it's job is to ensure sound quality. And lastly, it does not support lyrics. :(
Other huge points include better recording quality, applying equaliser on FM radio, various playback options. Battery life yet to be commented, as I feel only after a few initial full discharges then the battery will reach the optimum performance.
Sound quality wise, comparing with iPhone and other players, the music was clearer. Concluded that the Wolfson WM8960 audio chip used in Cowon was able to handle different sounds with ease.
The J3 could also be tuned to suit my TF10 characteristics.
Happy that I did not regret my purchase. :D

17 June Birthday
Basically just stayed at home watching shows, enjoying durians lor. Evening went IMM's some café (just outside Daiso) for dinner. Fried rice was ok la.
*Surprised you still can remember my birthday when nobody tells you about it. Strange but still, thank you for the wishes.

21 June 3rd Korean class
For 3rd lesson, 시아 taught us 이중모음 (二重母音), or diphthongs in English equivalent. They are slightly harder, especially with 왜, 웨 and 외, they sound super super similar (I bet there must be some subtle difference, but lazy to differentiate as of now).
Having said that, we have completed almost all consonants and vowels. Then it's time to pick up new vocabulary words and start the real learning of Korean language.
Then 시아 introduced us a new Korean chatting app (available on iPhone, Android, Samsung's Bada, Blackberry and Windows Mobile. Nicholas was first to chat with her. LOL...
I didn't have the chance to talk to 시아 because they got my number wrongly! Ahhh~~~
After the lesson, went to McD to do Hui Ling's birthday messages. At first I didn't suspect anything, but I was glad that I no need to keep those birthday prezzies. Lol...

22 June East Coast Park + Hui Ling's birthday + my birthday
Woke up early in the morning. Took 334 to JE interchange to switch bus to 197 when everybody was on his/her way to work. Supposed to meet at 9 at JE, but PG said he will be late and YC also wanted to tag along...
After I missed the first 197, we slowly managed to waddle our way to somewhere near VJC and we walked to East Coast Park. Sebastian and HL were there already. It has been months since I last visit ECP. With the super great sunny weather, bet the cycling experience is good! :)

*Wasn't able to visit the McD before it closed down. :(
*Suddenly missed the jogging times at ECP. :(
We started cycling at some point after Burger King and headed towards Changi Beach. Didn't stop at Bedok Jetty but I 不虞有詐. Continued my way to Changi though. But as we rode further and further, YC cannot tahan the exercise and forced to stop at NSRCC with HL and Sebastian to buy some bread (oh my goodness, he didn't have breakfast...). While I was way up besides airport runway. =.=
Then suddenly PG went super fast. (Wondered what he was up to) But I just slowly rode to Changi Beach, went past SFT too. Ahh, all the memories - enlistment day and all the book out/book in days... Looking across, I could see Pulau Tekong. Nothing has changed except that the road has widened to a dual-lane one.
Returned the bikes at Changi Beach. Only to find that the hawker centre was closed for renovation. No choice, but we headed to the Chocks Full of Beans for lunch instead. Discovered Nicholas and HH there! Me and HL was super surprised. Haha, then I know they wanted to pre-celebrate her birthday since she loves brunch.
Ordered the bacon mango sandwich ($13), ingredients went rather well with each other. :) Somehow, the boss mixed up our orders and he gave us the mistaken food as complimentary. Thanks boss! We have something extra to fill up our stomach.
The latte served has some art on the surface and we had some patterns too. Not too bad and it could rejuvenate myself for the rest of the day.

The birthday girl was shocked and was really happy that the thing came as a surprise to her.
But somehow it began to arouse my suspicion as why I wasn't informed about HL's birthday celebration. -> Because they going to celebrate mine's after this! What a surprise they want to give. But I don't really love surprises, unlike HH =.=... Please, no surprises. More 蛛絲馬跡 were leaked as we continued the day.
*I saw a big envelope at HH's seat which wasn't displayed out.
After some resting at the cafe, we began to make our way towards town. Some suggesting going Shaw Towers's Starbucks to have a drink and play some games.
But in the end, we didn't visit starbucks but Tom's Palette instead. Jia Xin managed to rush over and celebrate my belated birthday. Had their signature flavours as my birthday cake, one of them was rum n raisin. Yum yum! But I was apologetic to the staff there because I gave them a shock. (as in I wanted to take the serviette, then HH suddenly wanted to take for me also, but I don't want him to take so I rushed to take... gave the staff in front a shock lol)

Then came the present. Thanked HL and Sebastian for the H&M shopping. Guess I liked the shirt and shorts as I do not have the smart casual style. But wore it with the SAF sandals was super ugly and weird. =.=
After the cake, we travelled to Chinatown area for the dinner. I didn't have any idea where are they going to bring me. And PG, who was leading the way, was unsure about the destination too! Finally after some searching on Google Maps, we managed to arrive at the last destination - 동방홍 중화요리 식당!
Oh my... I have always wanted to try out their signature 자장면. Heard it was popular among Koreans residing in Singapore should they have cravings for 자장면.
Obviously I ordered 자장면 ($11), PG, HL and Nicholas followed suit. Sebastian tried the seafood one. HH ordered the Korean seafood rice instead, XD!!! JX had Korean fried rice.

Omg, the 자장면 was simply delicious!!!! :D It looked simple with boiled noodles topped with sauce. But it was really really tasty that it has became one of my favourite food now. :) :) :)
... to be continued.
