After doing the household chores, went out at about 11.30 am to meet Sharon, Jess and James at Strictly Pancakes (Prinsep Street branch) at 12.30 pm. Knowing I was going to be slightly late, I took bus 187 to Lakeside MRT instead of walking. Surprise 1: saw Sharon crossing the road outside Lakeside MRT, I guessed we could have bumped into each other. But she was waiting for Jess to train down to town together.
Surprise 2: I was first to reach (was late by 7 mins) lol. The girls reached a couple of minutes later and James was rather late. We three queued up for seats and chatted a bit. They were giggling over my pronounication of 'chipolata' when I was correct though first time seeing such word!
Surprise 3: Jess really like durian till nobody's business like that.
We were given the sofa seats. I sat onto the small little chair. Table wasn't helping too, a bit too low.AIGOOO... It wasn't really comfortable if I'm dining - stained my jeans with the chocolate while eating :( The pancakes were nice, just that the one with chicken chipolata was a bit plain and lost its shine when compared with the other 2 dishes we ordered. Of course it's the cheapest la.
The sausages and the onion and the rum & raisins butter were nice.
After lunch, we next a few doors down the row of shophouses to have some fun at Playnation. $12.50++ per person from 2-6 pm with free flow drinks sounds ok, cheaper than karaoke session haha. We had some games in Wii and some in Xbox. Gosh, the last time I played Wii was during K9 days. Time flies... Now the Wii comes in black colour also. I almost couldn't identify that black box was actually Wii. =X
The Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 and Mario Kart Wii were the two games we played and I remembered playing back in K9 days. Definitely got some memories back. Certain minigames in the former game and whole of Mario Kart were exactly the same and I knew how to play, as such I came in first for the first round of competition of Raving Rabbids! :D
Subsequently we saw others standing up and shaking/moving their bodies in front of TV, obviously playing games. Sharon got attacted to it and wanted to play also. So after the abovementioned two games, we switched to the Xbox with Kinect. I remembered the last time I touched on a Xbox game was when I'm at Geraint house some years back (2008 or 2009 liao) le ba. Last year don't remember I played Xbox at his house.
The motions were all detected by this addon called Kinect. It features some optical instruments employing IR technology and a processor to calculate the distance and movements. Pretty interesting and personally I think it's much more engaging than Wii. The games we played on Xbox were Kinect Adventures and Just Dance: Greatest Hits. Personally I prefer the former than the latter because the latter requires me to learn the dance steps first before playing. The former was quite fun and engaging, but max 2 players at a time.
Sharon's throats wasn't feeling well, so couldn't take spicy food. We already planned dinner at Jai Thai. So at the very last minute got to change to 新源記魚頭爐 at Bugis. Subsequently Pui Han and Yuan Sheng joined in. The fried chicken and the chilli were delicious!
As it wasn't that late, we went to Liang Seah Street to grab some desserts. Actually the main motive was to find a place to sit down and continue chatting. We had lots of topics, from finance till army licence plate number till work till marriage till HDB, it was a healthy chat. Shocked to know PH's BTO flat cost $500k!

As business was brisk at Liang Seah Street, we moved to another venue to continue chat - J.Co at Bugis Junction. This time round we mainly chat about Hua Yi and YS's experience in Japan. Forever so interesting to hear weird or funny incidents or facts from Japan. And about Hua Yi, we couldn't agree more that it's more and more difficult to organise such outings le - everybody is working or committments and no longer a carefree student le. E.g. YB was absent from this outing. But some things still bother me though, for example, why Jeannie unfriend me on FB? Well, I'm not saying die die must add me on FB but all along things were ok, then suddenly I got unfriend for no reason was a bit weird lor. What's even weirder is that not all 4-01 people kena unfriend. PH also kena same treatment.
Once again, time flies... Hwee Fen got married on this day.
PH said the engineering jobs now are more for mechanical engineering. I kinda agree with her. I went to online portal and try to see if there are suitable jobs and found that they want mechanical engineers rather than EEE engineers. Beginning to lose momentum le. It's the employer's world than job seeker's world.
