Just finished 'chasing' this new HK drama in HD format. Very funny from the partner duo 黄子华 and 佘诗曼.
Not only it's a comedy show, but it also teaches me some of the economic terms:
合理化烟幕
A very commonly used trick even in our daily lives. The example used in the drama is bowls of noodles. Suppose a bowl of noodles cost $6, then it would cost $24 for 4 bowls of noodles. But now consumers only need to pay $20 for 4 bowls of noodles, i.e. top up $2 for the 4th bowl.
To the consumer, he thinks he can save down $4. But the actual fact is that the captial for 3 bowls and 4 bowls of noodles are more or less the same, yet the hawkers can earn $2 more.
葡萄藤行銷法
This means the words from mouth are very powerful tools. Whether the public is spreading the correct message, it can affect the company very greatly.

鯰魚效應
This is called 'catfish effect' in English. The story comes from Norway. In Norway, people like to eat sardine fish and they prefer those live than the dead ones. Hence, the fishmonger cleverly put catfish into the boxes. The catfish starts to swim around. When the sardine fish see the catfish, they start to get nervous and swim around and around. In this way, when the fish arrives in front of the customers, they are alive.
In economic terms, this effect is used to spur up the workers' spirit in their work.
二八定律
It's known as Pareto principle (also known as the 80-20 rule) in English. Roughly, it means that 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. It was named after Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto, who observed that 80% of the land in Italy was owned by 20% of the population.
